WLAEF sidestory 4

Jiang Yun Zhu felt that she was in a daze. She didn't know where she was. When her consciousness was muddled, Jiang Yun Zhu sensed someone gently carrying her. She opened her eyelids with difficulty and only saw a jade-like jaw.

The man seemed to notice that she had woken up. He lowered his head and said comfortingly: "Don't be afraid."

His voice was so sure that it brought a natural sense of security. Jiang Yun Zhu had been worried and couldn't sleep at ease at night. But with this sentence, all her worries instantly receded and she closed her heavy eyelids.

Jiang Yun Zhu felt that she was dreaming. After dreaming about Commissioner-in-chief Shen comforting her, she dreamed about him feeding herself medicine with gentle and fluid movements.

Jiang Yun Zhu opened her eyes.

After seeing the environment in front of her, Jiang Yun Zhu closed her eyes subconsciously. After a few moments, she clenched the brocade quilt with both hands and gently opened her eyelids.

She was in Shen Feng Ming's room?

Thinking of this, there was a sound of footsteps. Jiang Yun Zhu raised her head and Shen Feng Ming in a red robe, stood at the head of her bed.

"Official Shen?" Jiang Yun Zhu held the bed with her hands and tried to sit up. But she was tired. Just half of her body was propped up when her whole body slid down involuntarily.

Shen Feng Ming subconsciously wanted to reach out his hand. As his hand stretched halfway and abruptly took it back.

Jiang Yun Zhu frowned and used strength to sit upright against the head of the bed, "Official Shen, why am I here?"

"You are sick." Shen Feng Ming's eyes fell on Jiang Yun Zhu's thin chin. Her thick black hair hung on her shoulders, making her face appear to be the size of a palm. "The cold wind entered the body and the depression formed knots. The doctor said it is necessary to nurture for a few days.”

She knew she was sick, but the problem was that she should be in a cell, not his bedroom.

But looking at Shen Feng Ming's face, Jiang Yun Zhu knew that he wouldn't and couldn't answer her doubts. In addition, Jiang Yun Zhu had just woken up and her mind was groggy. She didn’t want to deal with Shen Feng Ming, so she only acknowledged with an ‘en’.

"I have something to do and have to go out." Shen Feng Ming spoke again.

"Wait." Jiang Yun Zhu called him.

"Huh?" Shen Feng Ming turned his head around.

Jiang Yun Zhu was feeling a little unaccustomed. She covered her lips with her hand and coughed a few times before asking, "Official Shen, how many days have I been asleep?"

Jiang Yun Zhu remembered that she had a fever in the middle of the night. Now the light coming through the window was warm and yellow and bright, like the afternoon sun. But the fatigue all over her body told Jiang Yun Zhu that she wasn't just in a coma for one night.

"You had the fever the day before." Shen Feng Ming said.

It had been a day and a half since she left the cell.

Jiang Yun Zhu stayed sick in Shen Feng Ming's room for four days and discovered that Official Shen appeared to be cold and unsmiling. During these four days, Shen Feng Ming would accompany her for lunch and dinner every day. The food was very light, mostly soup and congee. It was mainly suitable for people who nurtured their body.

Moreover, this Official Shen was very attentive. Because he was afraid that she would feel bored, he even brought her a nine-interlinked ring puzzle, story book, poem and go to relieve her boredom.

In addition, Official Shen seemed to notice her frowning while drinking medicine one day. The next time the medicine, which was more bitter than coptis, was served, there was an extra orange candy next to it.

Four days passed in a flash and Jiang Yun Zhu felt that her body had completely recovered. That night when she and Shen Feng Ming had dinner together, she couldn't help but mention this matter.

"Official Shen, my body has recovered."

Shen Feng Ming glanced at her, picked up the butterfly pattern bowl on the side, personally filled a bowl of pigeon soup, and handed it to Jiang Yun Zhu.

In the past two days, Shen Feng Ming would ladle soup and clip food for her every day at meal time. Jiang Yun Zhu knew that if she didn't accept it, Official Shen would stubbornly keep serving it to her. Jiang Yun Zhu took the soup and drank the bowl in front of Shen Feng Ming. After drinking the soup, she mentioned what she said just now, "Official Shen, my body has recovered. I no longer have any discomfort."

Although she knew that Lin Ting An had committed a capital crime, and as his wife, there was a high probability that she wouldn't escape death. There was a big difference between dying in pain and dying easily. If it were known that she, the wife of a criminal minister, was living in Shen Feng Ming's room, wouldn't it be aggravated if word got out?

Jiang Yun Zhu didn't want to die in too much pain.

Shen Feng Ming put down his chopsticks. He glanced at Jiang Yun Zhu, as if he could clearly see the worry in her heart, and said, "This matter will not spread."

Jiang Yun Zhu didn't believe that there was an airtight wall in the world.

Shen Feng Ming was like a roundworm in her belly. Anticipating her thoughts, he added: "The doctor said, it's best to recuperate for a few more days."

After a pause, Shen Feng Ming added: "The prison is damp and dark, making it extremely easy to be susceptible to stress and cold."

Okay, she couldn't persuade Shen Feng Ming anymore.

Jiang Yun Zhu took a big mouthful of cherry and reminded herself that the environment in Shen Feng Ming's room was indeed dozens of times better than that in prison. If she was going to die, she would be more comfortable eating and drinking heartily here in Shen Feng Ming's place.

Just thinking about this, Jiang Yun Zhu couldn't help but look toward Shen Feng Ming. Shen Feng Ming had been attentive to her these past few days. So attentive that she couldn't help but believe Yin Cui's words. Did Official Shen have a crush on her?

But as soon as this thought crossed her mind, Jiang Yun Zhu shook her head.

Impossible.

Official Shen was born into a noble family and was a close minister of the emperor. With his status, if he wanted to get a wife, there were countless talented and beautiful girls in the capital waiting for him to marry him. Yes, she, Jiang Yun Zhu, does have some weight, but she was just the wife of a criminal minister. What’s more, her appearance wasn't considered beautiful and fragrant that was rare in the world.

It would be more appropriate to hold another motive.

Just when she thought of this, Shen Feng Ming suddenly looked over and asked, "What are you thinking about?"

"No, it's nothing." Jiang Yun Zhu said.

Since she lives in Shen Feng Ming's room, Shen Feng Ming hasn't rested here these days. Of course, Jiang Yun Zhu didn't know where he lives. Moreover, although Shen Feng Ming would come to have two meals with her every day, the time the two of them spent together was the time for these two meals. Jiang Yun Zhu didn't know what Commissioner-in-chief Shen was doing at other times.

Until this day, Jiang Yun Zhu was sitting on the soft couch in front of the window, looking down at a story book bought by Shen Feng Ming. The story in this book was old-fashioned, but the author's writing was profound. The old-fashioned story made people unable to put it down. Jiang Yun Zhu read it with enjoyment until there was a knock on the door.

Only then did Jiang Yun Zhu come back to her senses. She looked at the door and said, "Come in."

Almost as soon as she finished speaking, the door was pushed open.

Shen Feng Ming opened the door. Seeing Jiang Yun Zhu with a rosy face, he was slightly breathed out. He stepped in and said, "What are you doing? I just knocked on the door for a while and you didn't answer."

Just now, Shen Feng Ming was ready to ignore the differences between men and women and open the door to come in. Fortunately, Jiang Yun Zhu opened the door for him just before he was about to push the door.

"I was fascinated by the storybook just now." Jiang Yun Zhu explained.

"Storybook?" Shen Feng Ming's eyes fell on the script in her hand.

Although he specially sent someone to buy Jiang Yun Zhu some stories to relieve her boredom, he had never read these stories.

"Yes, this story is very interesting." Jiang Yun Zhu said.

Shen Feng Ming sat down at the red sandalwood square table and asked, "What is it about?"

Jiang Yun Zhu told Shen Feng Ming about this story. This story was about a poor scholar who married a poor but beautiful peasant girl. After the two got married, they lived in love and sweetness for two years. But at this time, a miss from a squire’s family took a fancy to the poor scholar. The miss from the squire's family was surnamed Li. Although Miss Li's family wasn't good-looking and had a fierce personality, they had a lot of wealth.

This Miss Li took a fancy to the poor scholar and wanted to marry him, but she was unwilling to become a concubine.

When the poor scholar's mother found out about this, she persuaded the poor scholar to separate with the peasant girl. However, the poor scholar, who claimed that his relationship with the peasant girl was stronger than gold, agreed. Not only did he agree, he helplessly told the peasant girl that his mother threatened him with her life, so he had no choice but to do it.

In the third month after he separated with the peasant girl, the poor scholar got married to Miss Li.

Having said this, Jiang Yun Zhu fell silent.

"Then what?" Shen Feng Ming asked.

Jiang Yun Zhu liked to share her favorite stories with others. She said in high spirits: "Less than a year of the poor scholar and Miss Li’s marriage, Miss Li's family went bankrupt!"

"Huh?" Shen Feng Ming raised an eyebrow.

Jiang Yun Zhu continued: "At the same time, the biological parents of the peasant girl Man Niang came knocking. She wasn't a peasant girl, but the lost eldest daughter of the prefect."

At this point, Shen Feng Ming became interested, "What then?"

"Then?" Jiang Yun Zhu spread her hands and said, "You're came."

Shen Feng Ming understood what Jiang Yun Zhu meant, "Miss Jiang, please continue reading."

This was what Jiang Yun Zhu was waiting for. She sat on the soft couch and eagerly continued to read. The book wasn't thick, only 10,000 words at most. She had just read it for almost an hour in one go and felt that she could read it for another hour and finish reading this seemingly clichéd but climax-filled book.

When in reality, Jiang Yun Zhu sat on the soft couch and only flipped through three pages. She didn’t even finish the climax where the poor scholar discovered that his Man Niang was the daughter of the prefect as her mind couldn't continue to focus on the book.

Because she noticed that a gaze kept drifting toward her. Though after a few breaths, the gaze drifted away from her, a few moments later, the gaze seemed to be unconsciously drifting over again.

Jiang Yun Zhu sensed no danger in that gaze. She had once entered the Lin Family as a servant. From maid to madam, she had encountered many kinds of looks; contemptuous, indifferent, inquisitive, malicious, and malicious. She was able to get by calmly under those gazes, but under this gentle gaze, Jiang Yun Zhu found herself a little nervous and not sure how she should react.
