Chapter 247. Dogs that bite don't bark

Lin Qing He brought back a lot of things this time.

However, Lin Qing He didn't intend to sell these objects here in the capital. One, she wasn't familiar with this side. Two, the people here were too smart.

While in the hometown, everyone likes things from the big cities outside.

Because it was relatively far. Major cities like the capital and Hai City was a place people pined for, especially in the younger generation.

So when brought over and inform where the goods came from, they will be popular. Even when the goods were from these big cities, they were the same in Lin Qing He's eyes.

This time's exchange in Hai City was indeed very successful. After successfully completing the task, Lin Qing He kicked into her study mode again.

But at the end of November, something happened in the dormitory.

Chen Xue had a miscarriage.

She slipped and fell.

It was already very cold during this time. There was a good bit of snow. Out of carelessness, Chen Xue fell on the stairs like this.

Originally, everyone didn't think there was anything. It was a close friend of Chen Xue who broke the news.

That person was also married, so she naturally had the experience. Chen Xue instantly lost a child this time.

Lin Qing He wasn't surprised when she heard it. She had seen Chen Xue and another male classmate once. One can tell the relationship between the two wasn't simple at a glance.

Generally, men and women don't have that kind of intimacy, unless they have slept together.

This was someone else's business. Lin Qing He didn't care to get involved.

However, Wang Li and the other dorm mates were shocked when they learned about it.

Especially Wang Li. She said to Lin Qing He in private: "My God, I can't believe that she did such a thing. Even if she doesn't want her man and child, she still dares to do this with another man while it isn't sorted out?"

"Don't bother with it." Lin Qing He just replied.

"I don't want to, but I feel sick to live with this kind of person!" Wang Li was annoyed.

In the past, she felt that Chen Xue had poor character and was a little arrogant. However, Wang Li felt that this was the bottom line.

It was only a year since coming to university. Wang Li couldn't accept such a thing.

Lin Qing He also felt it was quite distasteful for something like this happened in the dormitory: "The accommodation conditions are tight now. Can't change the dorm."

Wang Li also knew that it was impossible to change the dorm. There were no vacant beds at all. She gritted her teeth, "Really shameless!"

Wang Li privately complain to Lin Qing He, while a dorm mate in the dorm was vocal about it.

"It's normal to have some quarrels in our dormitory on normal days. But to actually have such a person. I don't think I can live in the same dormitory with this kind of person!" This was clearly wanting to drive Chen Xue out.

"I can't live with her either. It's too shameless. Even when she's still unmarried, doing this kind of thing just humiliates us women." Another female dorm mate who didn't speak much also showed support.

"What unmarried? Don't you know? It's spread all over outside now. When she went to the countryside, she got married and also gave birth to a son and a daughter!" said the first speaker.

"This is even more shameless!" The latter started scolding: "If this was in the past, it's committing adultery. See if she'll get criticized to death for being shameless!"

Since the Gang of Four stepped down, the criticizing and fight stopped. The ones above didn't like it.

For example, in Zhoujiatun. Wang Ling and the one named Zhou He, who had been repeatedly criticized before were released. Still, they were completely ruined.

"Try and say another word!" Chen Xue was lying on the bed. Her face was white likes now. She was completely irritated by these two's conversations.

Wang Li joined the camp at once. She was simply tired of Chen Xue: "What? You dare to do it and still afraid of being talked about? You don't love or respect yourself, who can you blame!"

"That's right. Everyone was doing fine in the dormitory. Never thought such a rat poop to mix in!"

"This kind of person should be driven out. Can this kind of character pass the policy and screening?"

At this time, even if one got admitted to a university, they still have to go through policies and screening. Even if they pass, once they fail these, they then have to accept their fate and pick dung as work.

The dormitory was noisy. Lin Qing He didn't say a word from beginning to end.

But her stance was clear. She and Chen Xue can't get along either, especially since this matter was really repulsive.

Although other people have occasional quarrels, it wasn't important in general. Everyone had done their duties in the hygiene aspects properly.

Only when it was Chen Xue's turn, she always required someone to push her to.

After a while, Wang Mei, who had the best relationship with Chen Xue, returned.

With other people, Chen Xue only displayed sneer and mockery even when she arguing. When it came to Wang Mei, she had the heart to swallow her.

Wang Mei was a little scared when she saw the hatred bursting out of her eyes. She spoke out: "Chen Xue, why... why are you looking at me like this?"

"Dogs that bite don't bark. I finally see it clearly today, you're a b*tch!" Chen Xue gritted her teeth.

Only Wang Mei knew everything about her. Wang Mei was the culprit of her current situation!

Wang Mei said, "I didn't say anything about you. Someone happened to see me help you throw something away. They forced me to answer, so I told the truth."

"B*tch!" Chen Xue picked up the enamel cup at the bedside and threw it at her.

Naturally, it was an episode of chickens flying and dogs jumping.

The impact of this incident was very bad. It may not be a big deal when placed in a later generation. Still one must know it was still only '78 even when the environment was beginning to change.

Chen Xue and that man of hers received a big demerit. Out of everyone's expectations, the two were unswervingly determined. They had no plans to break up.

What's more, they also vexed that the child had no fate with them.

Lin Qing He heard about this later. It was simply too chilling.

But she didn't have time to pay much heed.

Because after entering December, it was really extremely cold.

It was dry and cold. When Zhou Kai brought the soup, Lin Qing He asked: "Are you cold at night? Is the quilt warm?"

"It's warm enough. How about you, mother?" Zhou Kai asked.

His quilt was six jins and the mattress was padded. He was such a young and strong boy, so he basically wasn't cold.

While he had a dorm mate was freezing to death. His family was too poor and the quilts given were old and shabby. However, Zhou Kai didn't want to sleep with him because he was too economical to take a bath regularly.

Zhou Kai didn't like to wash up very much in winter. Probably due to being educated by Lin Qing He, he was used to being clean. Every week he got to head to the bathhouse twice.

So can he stand this?

  1. If the state hadn't insisted on singleness being a requirement for university, none of this nonsense would have happened. If they wanted to slow the influx of students they should have simply put an age limit for attendence instead, then slowly raised it until the influx was at normal levels. Really stupid thing to do and caused so many needless divorces plus this needless drama.

    1. There is a strong reason for insisting single youths for college though.

The CCP dispatches educated workers to rural villages to bring the villages out of poverty/increase it's success, then the youths get credits for promotion to some other larger village/city or county or even province level. It's how they work their way up the ladder.

The life of a driven person working political posts in China is often one year here one year there, so the CCP would be shooting themselves in the foot if they allowed students to be married from the start, having to drag around a family everywhere they go.

Of course, in the first few years of such a policies implementation, it causes these issues.

But, once in place, China- a country with over a billion people with basically everyone not in a large city living in abject poverty and even starving/freezing to death- was able to bring their entire population out of that starvation in one or two generations.

A feat that is extremely absurdly impressive in even the most harshest of CCP's critics eyes.

Sure, they used hard policies to make it happen (such as this one), but the success can't be denied and it's a large reason why the CCP to this day has such strong, unbreakable goodwill from the majority of China's citizens.

  3. That's too much, I do feel for the woman, that just happened to her and they're all like that? I get the that's it's the times and they just came out of such shitty regulations but like damn have some compassion.

And again before all those educated youths or whatever didn't have a chance to study and do betterz they thought they'd be living in poverty hounded by their overwhelming governemt, now they have a chance to truly flex their wings and meet people at their level, yeah first they should get divorced and all but still .... C'mon she's not sacrificing newborns or something.

    1. have you lost your mind or what?. You are trying to justify the fact that she cheated on her husband! It was her choice to get married to a peasant in a country side no one forced her. She should be responsible for her own choice whether it be marriage or cheating . Would you be saying the same thing if the one cheated was a man?

    2. No one forced her? Statistically speaking, she probably was socially pressured into it.

    3. I bet you're a kind of woman who will open her legs for opportunities, whether you're married or not does not matter.

    4. I wonder if there is some underlying guilt with this OP

    5. The anonymous responses are so nasty. No matter how terrible a human she is, she just had a miscarriage and not a single woman was empathetic. Honestly my first thought wouldn't be to chase her out cause of cheating but inquire about her health first.

  4. Many of those educated youth married a rural man so they can chose to not go farming. not to mention her husband was someone 'rich' in their village. she have children and you justify her action of cheating because she was 'forced'? lol
and what's more she didn't even have feeling for her unborn baby, yes her character was terrible.
