ATCOTB 8

Chapter 8

The others in the auditorium were also startled by the sudden accident, but by the time they reacted, Yun Chuman had already carried Yun Shu to the stage.

At the same time, Yun Juan slowly stood up on the stage.

The little boy was clearly still a bit unwell. His lips tightly pressed together, but his expression was resolute, without the slightest hesitation or confusion.

Yun Chuman's eyes flickered and she abruptly stopped walking towards the stage, also stopping others who wanted to go up to check on the situation.

Understanding the situation, Yun Shu remained silent. Her eyes were fixed on elder brother on stage. Only her small hand, tightly clutching Yun Chuman's clothes, betrayed her nervousness.

Yun Juan recovered quickly, regaining his balance the instant he landed, returning to her pre-fall state.

But the little bald boy had already panicked, on the verge of tears.

Seeing this, Yun Juan had no choice but to walk up to him, taking his hand and placing it on her left shoulder. Raising an eyebrow, he said calmly, "Continue."

The little bald boy looked confused and helpless.

Yun Juan secretly frowned, then swung his left shoulder back, mimicking a heavy punch. He then took a step back, crouched, and kicked towards the lower body.

Seeing the familiar moves, the little bald boy finally snapped out of it.

He touched the ground with his toes, turned to the left, and delivered an elbow strike.

Yun Juan raised his arm and smoothly blocked.

The two exchanged blows, gradually regaining their composure, and resumed their fight.

There were only a few moves left. The performance had barely ended when the crew's medical staff rushed onto the stage and took Yun Juan off.

"Mommy, elder brother..." Yun Shu anxiously pointed in the direction they had left.

Yun Chuman then noticed the little girl was almost crying and quickly said, "Let's go find him."

Yun Shu obediently nodded.

However, the more urgent the situation, the more people seemed to waste time.

The little bald man's father suddenly appeared in front of Yun Chuman, grinning, "Sorry, my little Jie didn't mean it. Actually, this happens all the time. Oh dear, you don't practice martial arts, you wouldn't understand. My little Jie is often covered in injuries, the worst time was..."

Yun Chuman frowned irritably and coldly interrupted him, "Sorry, I'm not interested in your child's martial arts experience. Please move aside, you're blocking the way."

The man hadn't expected her to be so blunt and instinctively took a step back to make way.

Yun Chuman glanced at him: "Also, it was little Juan who was accidentally injured. If you want to apologize, please say sorry to my son."

After saying that, she hurriedly left with Yun Shu.

At this moment, besides the medical staff, director and crew members, the little bald boy was also with Yun Juan.

He bowed sincerely to Yun Juan, his voice loud and clear: "I'm sorry! I accidentally hurt you!"

When Yun Chuman pushed through the crowd, this was the scene she saw. She was stunned for a moment. Compared to the little bald boy's father, the child himself seemed quite nice.

Upon hearing this, Yun Juan said calmly: "It's alright."

His eyes lit up immediately when he caught sight of a familiar figure, and a smile appeared on his face.

Yun Chuman walked to his side. Seeing his red cheeks, she felt a pang of heartache: "How are you, little Juan? Does it hurt?"

Yun Juan smiled and shook his head: "It doesn't hurt."

Yun Shu moved closer to him, holding his hand tightly.

The medical staff carefully examined him and said slowly, "Nothing serious, just a small cut on his lip. We've already applied medicine."

The crew members then dispersed, relieved.

"Little Juan is very good." The director, who had already reached the door, abruptylu turned back to Yun Chuman.

"Thank you," Yun Chuman smiled.

"Really very good," the director emphasized again before slowly leaving.

Though Yun Chuman's expression remained unchanged, she was somewhat surprised. The director was giving Yun Juan special treatment. Could it be that the plot was about to change?

However, she quickly realized she was overthinking it. The bald boy still won the audition.

Yun Chuman was somewhat disappointed.

In her opinion, Yun Juan was the best performer today. She was certain she had no bias. The bald boy's only advantage was his martial arts skills.

Suddenly, she regretted letting the child face failure.

Yun Chuman sighed heavily.

Yun Juan and Yun Shu were watching her.

At first, the two children thought their mommy was angry, but the more they looked, the less it seemed like she was.

In their memory, when their mommy was angry, she wouldn't speak and her face would be expressionless. They were too afraid to approach her.

But this time, although their mommy wasn't speaking, her expressions kept changing, sometimes happy, sometimes sad. It was quite amusing, like the face-changing shows they used to see on TV!

Yun Shu whispered, "Elder Brother, Mommy is so funny."

suppressing a laugh, Yun Juan nodded and tugged at Yun Chuman's sleeve, saying, "Mom, I'm okay, don't be sad!"

Yun Chuman was taken aback. Her emotions were so obvious! She was actually being comforted by a child!

She knelt down and ruffled Yun Juan's hair. "Mommy isn't sad at all. I saw how well little Juan performed today; learns quickly and has great adaptability. If it weren't for our little Juan, that other kid who made a mistake wouldn't have been able to finish the rest of the routine."

She took out a bouquet of lollipops from her backpack. "This is a reward. Little Juan is the best in my heart."

Seeing this, Yun Shu hurriedly pulled a gold medal chocolate from her pocket, gave it to Yun Juan, and even stood on tiptoe to pat his head. "Elder Brother is the best in my heart too!"

Yun Juan stared blankly at the candy bouquet and the gold medal chocolate. His lips trembled as his eyes instantly reddened. Large tears fell down his face.

He awkwardly lowered his head, not wanting anyone to see.

Yun Chuman panicked. "W-why are you crying?"

Could it be that Yun Juan actually enjoys acting? Was his composure after being eliminated just a facade?

Yun Juan shook his head stubbornly, "I’m not crying."

He didn't want to cry, but the tears just wouldn't stop. Failing the audition wasn't the worst part. What hurt him most was letting down his mommy and younger sister, who had come to cheer him on…

Yun Shu rarely saw Elder Brother cry and didn't know how to comfort him. In her anxiety, she also started to cry.

Yun Juan quickly wiped away his tears.

Yun Shu imitated him, wiping away Elder Brother's tears as well.

The two little ones, like actors in a melodramatic play who were hugging each other and sobbing.

Yun Chuman was both amused and exasperated. She checked the weather forecast and map on her phone again, confirming that the scenery she wanted was likely to appear. Then she smiled at the two children, saying, "Okay, okay, stop crying. The Cultural Centre will be flooded by you two soon."

Embarrassed, Yun Juan and Yun Shu turned to look at her. They were still hugging each other with their chubby cheeks pressed tightly together.

Yun Chuman vigorously ruffled their little heads: "You two little red-nosed sprites, I know a place that can make people happy. Would you like to come with me?"

The two children looked at each other, their bright red noses clearly visible up close.

Yun Juan and Yun Shu burst out laughing and finally let go of each other. They nodded vigorously and said in unison, "Yes!"

So, when the "Every Family Has Its Own Affairs" program team finally saw Yun Chuman’s family of three, whom they had been eagerly anticipating, it was the sight of the two children, clearly having cried, walking briskly with smiles on their faces.

Upon hearing the news of their appearance, the viewers in the live stream rushed back from the other guests.

—Did little Juan fail the audition?

—Aww, I finally see the two little ones again! They seem even cuter after just one afternoon!

—Yun Juan seems to be in a good mood. Yun Chuman and Yun Shu must have comforted him well.

—Honestly, the gold medal chocolate and lollipop flowers are a bit tacky.

—Sentiment! Do you understand sentiment? My Juan really likes it!"

After leaving the Cultural Centre, Yun Chuman took the two children to eat first, and then headed towards their destination.

"Mommy, where are we going?" Yun Shu asked curiously.

Yun Juan didn't speak, but tilted his little head and stared intently at her.

"It's a secret!"

Yun Chuman smiled confidently, "You'll find out soon enough!"

Yun Juan and Yun Shu were a little disappointed at not getting an answer, but more than that, they were expectant.

Yun Chuman secretly breathed a sigh of relief when the two didn't ask any more questions.

She appeared calm on the surface, but was actually very anxious inside.

That morning, she suddenly had an idea that could change Yun Shu's opinion of the red mark, but she wasn't entirely sure if it would succeed.

Furthermore, the place she originally wanted to take the two children to was actually a different place.

But Yun Juan's sadness after losing the competition exceeded her expectations, so in order to cheer Yun Juan up at the same time, she changed their destination at the last minute.

With various uncertainties combined, Yun Chuman couldn't help but feel uneasy. She could only silently pray that everything would go smoothly and that she could gain a happy Yun Juan and a confident Yun Shu!
