ATCOTB 7

Chapter 7

In the end, Yun Chuman took the two children to the food street and ordered preserved egg and lean pork congee out of stubbornness.

Watching Yun Juan and Yun Shu wolf down their food across from her, Yun Chuman felt a pang of guilt. It was all her fault for her poor cooking skills!

Thinking this, she took a large bite, tears welling in her eyes. The soft rice grains fully absorbed the flavors of the preserved egg and lean meat. With just the right amount of seasoning, it was truly delicious!

The sight of the two children eating made the viewers in the live stream incredibly hungry.

—Silently opening the food delivery app and order a bowl of preserved egg and lean meat congee.

—I just finished breakfast and I'm hungry again…

—The two kids eat so cleanly. It’s another day of wanting to steal them.

—I've already prepared sacks, one blue and one pink.

Yun Juan and Yun Shu had small appetites and quickly finished their food.

Remembering how she almost overate and had a stomachache yesterday, Yun Chuman didn't dare eat more after finishing a bowl of congee. However, her eyes still lingered on the menu.

"Mommy, the fried cakes here are yummy! They're sweet, do you want some?"

Yun Shu wiggled her little legs and asked expectantly, "I can go buy some for you!"

Fried cakes? And sweet?

So unhealthy, but they sounded delicious!

Yun Chuman was about to nod when Yun Juan tugged at Yun Shu's sleeve, frowning and stopping her, "Little Shu, Mommy can't eat anymore. Tummy will hurt."

Clutching her round little belly, Yun Shu remembered her past stomach aches, trembled, jumped off the chair, and hurriedly pulled Yun Chuman out, "Mommy, Elder Brother is right. Better eat them in the future."

Seeing her looking back every few steps, Yun Juan simply pushed her out from behind.

Yun Chuman suddenly felt helpless. Was she really that greedy in the two children's eyes?

Today was a foggy day. Yun Chuman went outside and found the fog hadn't completely dissipated. Everything beyond ten meters was a white blur.

Yun Shu stretched out her chubby little hand, curiously trying to grab at the fog.

Seeing that she couldn't grab anything, Yun Juan suddenly opened his mouth wide and howled at the fog. Realizing what he was doing, his cheeks flushed red.

Today, the two children were dressed in modified Tang suits with stand-up collars and small Chinese knot buttons, and chubby little tigers embroidered on their bellies. Surrounded by the white fog, they really did look like little celestial children.

Yun Chuman watched them with a smile. Then a brilliant idea suddenly struck her. She took out her phone to check the weather forecast and excitedly said, "Little Juan, little Shu, I'm taking you..."

Before she could finish, her phone beeped. Looking down, she saw it was a schedule reminder: 10:00 AM, Youth Cultural Camp, little Juan's audition.

Yun Chuman was stunned. She thought, ‘There was such an arrangement?’.

She meticulously searched her memory, finally finding a sentence tucked away in a corner: Yun Juan failed his audition, and "Yun Chuman" remained silent, leading viewers to perceive her as overly cold towards the children and causing the live stream's ratings to plummet.

Yun Chuman: ...

The original owner was indeed a supporting character. Even her plot descriptions were pitifully few.

Watching the two children happily playing with a cloud of mist, she couldn't help but frown. Since they already knew the audition result was a failure, to avoid upsetting the children, it would be better not to go. She had other plans anyway.

However, just then, Yun Juan abruptly turned around and asked with a smile, "Mommy, is this a reminder about the audition?"

Damp with mist, his long eyelashes fluttered twice as he spoke.

Yun Chuman was startled. Yun Juan actually knew!

She rubbed her forehead. In this situation, she had no choice but to go. After all, she had to set a good example. She couldn't let the two children think that breaking a promise was a common occurrence.

Although it was cruel, failure was a necessary part of life. Letting Yun Juan experience it early wasn't bad, especially since Yun Chuman and Yun Shu were by his side this time!

After quickly thinking it through, Yun Chuman nodded to Yun Juan, "That's right, is little Juan ready? Little Shu and I will be with you the whole time today."

Yun Juan and Yun Shu were both stunned.

Yun Shu pointed at herself incredulously, "Me too?"

"Of course! Doesn't little Shu want to cheer for elder brother?" Yun Chuman ruffled her hair.

"Yes, yes! I want to cheer for elder brother! With Mommy!"

Yun Shu jumped up excitedly, pulling Yun Juan around in circles.

Yun Juan was clearly happy too, his eyes crinkling with mirth.

Seeing their reactions, Yun Chuman understood. The original owner probably had never let Yun Shu appear in a similar situation before. She couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

The Cultural Camp wasn't far away.

When Yun Chuman arrived at the meeting point with her two children, the auditions hadn't started yet.

A young woman in a black suit immediately approached them.

With a professional smile, she spoke softly, "Excuse me, are you Yun Juan and his parent?"

Yun Chuman replied with a warm smile, "Yes, and his younger sister, Yun Shu."

Yun Shu lowered her head shyly, hiding behind her mommy, and said softly, "Hello, Elder Sister."

"Yun Juan and Yun Shu, your names are so cute," the young woman said with a smile.

The two children exchanged a smile, clearly much more fond of the woman before them.

The young girl continued to explain to Yun Chuman, "Yun Juan’s parent, let me explain something. Your child needs to attend a one-hour closed training session before the audition. During this time, you can leave on your own or wait in the waiting room."

"The audition will then take place in the Cultural Camp Auditorium. You can observe this part, but you need to enter the auditorium before noon and must not make any noise."

She glanced at the large group of staff from "Every Family Has Its Own Affair" behind her: "Also, our auditions require strict confidentiality. Filming is not allowed."

Without Yun Chuman saying anything, the production team left on their own as they realized they couldn't afford to offend this crew! The director was a renowned figure in the industry.

They hadn't expected Yun Chuman to have secured such resources. Even just an audition was impressive. This was an opportunity many top actors wouldn't even dream of!

After explaining the precautions, the young girl led Yun Juan to the queue.

Only then, Yun Chuman realized there weren't many children auditioning. Including Yun Juan, there were only six.

Every child was outstanding, but she felt Yun Juan was the most handsome and had the most unique temperament. The only one who could rival him was a little bald boy, whose striking appearance made him stand out.

Seeing Yun Juan about to enter the training room, she quickly whispered, "Little Juan, do your best!"

Yun Shu also raised her tiny fist, no bigger than a bean bun, and said, "Elder Brother, do you best!"

Yun Juan, who had been keeping a straight face, smiled and nodded vigorously at them.

Once the children who were auditioning left, the surroundings quieted down.

The other parents gathered together, exchanging pleasantries as they walked towards the lounge.

Yun Chuman didn't follow. Instead, she turned and walked out of the cultural center with Yun Shu.

Worried about her elder brother, the little girl looked back as they walked, "Mommy, what are we going to do?"

"Of course, we're going to buy a reward for elder brother," Yun Chuman said with a smile.

Yun Shu's eyes lit up at the mention of this, but she quickly became dejected again: "But I haven't decided what to buy yet."

Finding her quite adorable,Yun Chuman couldn't resist pinching her chubby cheeks: "It's okay. There's still an hour, little Shu can take your time to think about it."

She took Yun Shu to a shopping mall near the Cultural Centre, only returning five minutes before the audition began. The two of them, panting, rushed straight to the auditorium, leaving only the staff of Every Family Has Its Own Affairs waiting outside.

The viewers in the live stream watched the Cultural Centre's gate on the screen and let out a series of groans.

—Ahhh! I miss them so much! The moment I don't see my little ones, I feel so bad!

—I'm so nervous! I'm so afraid little Juan will fail the audition. I suddenly understand how a mother feels!

—Above, pah, pah, pah, my son's acting is great!

—The other child stars are amazing too, right? Yun Juan, Yun Juan, he's been amazing since he was little."

"—Don't be so nervous. Even if you fail, Yun Juan has a loving mother and sister."

"—That's true… Thinking about how hard the mother and daughter were picking out gifts, I suddenly felt relieved, even a little amused."

Yun Chuman and Yun Shu rushed into the auditorium just in time. At the front of the audience were the director and other staff from the film crew, and in the middle were the parents of five other children.

Yun Chuman didn't squeeze in to join the fun. She led the sweaty Yun Shu to a slightly secluded spot, away from the direct air conditioning.

As soon as the two of them sat down, the auditorium darkened and a spotlight simultaneously illuminated the stage at the front.

Then, two children walked onto the stage from either side, rushed towards each other without a word, and ended up fighting in the center of the stage.

Yun Chuman: ???

What was going on here?

She watched them finish their fight and leave, only to have two more children come up and repeat the same actions.

Yun Chuman watched the two groups perform identical martial arts moves, slowly beginning to understand.

The closed training session had actually been teaching the children choreographed moves!

She frowned slightly. She hadn't expected it to be a martial arts performance.

After understanding the general situation, Yun Chuman wanted to explain to Yun Shu that the older boys on stage weren't fighting, but when she turned her head, she saw the little girl intently watching the stage with sparkling eyes, forgetting to cover her red marks.

Yun Chuman was slightly taken aback, unsure whether the child was interested in the martial arts or the stage itself.

Just as she was lost in thought, Yun Shu suddenly tugged at her sleeve and exclaimed softly, "Mommy, elder brother are coming out!"

Yun Chuman turned her head and saw Yun Juan walking onto the stage, paired with the little bald boy.

She immediately sat up straight, watching her child's performance intently.

Compared to the first two groups, Yun Juan and the bald boy were clearly superior, and their performance was quite entertaining.

Yun Juan's movements were precise and his expression indifferent, appearing calm and composed.

The bald boy's moves were powerful, clearly showing he had a foundation in martial arts.

Yun Chuman immediately understood. The bald boy was definitely going to succeed in this audition.

She pursed her lips. No wonder Yun Juan failed, the other was a professional!

However, the "professional" bald boy made a mistake the very next second.

Perhaps because he was sparring too smoothly with Yun Juan and got carried away, his fist, which should have landed on Yun Juan's shoulder, accidentally slammed heavily into his face.

Yun Juan gasped. His small body swayed and he lost his balance, falling heavily onto the stage with a thud.

Yun Chuman and Yun Shu were shocked, jumping to their feet and running towards him.
