Chapter 2
"Every Family Has Its Own Affair" features six groups of guests.
Yun Chuman's group was second to last in popularity, and that was only after she fainted, when many people came from neighboring channels to watch the commotion. Before that, she was at the bottom.
At this moment, her live stream was filled with comments calling for the production team to intervene.
"Director Li, what do we do? Should we intervene? Filming has only been going on for less than twenty minutes; interfering with the guests now will easily get us yelled at."
The messy hair assistant pushed up her round glasses that had slipped down to the tip of her nose. Her face was full of worry and anxiety.
Li Rufei stared blankly: "Haven't you considered the consequences if we're too slow and Yun Chuman really has a problem?"
The assistant paused, looking like she'd seen it all before: "We'll probably be yelled at to death."
Li Rufei looked at the motionless Yun Chuman and the two clearly panicked children, turned his head, and said with difficulty: "Prepare to notify the medical team..."
"Director Li! Yun Chuman is awake!"
The assistant's exclamation interrupted him.
Li Rufei abruptly turned his head. The camera only captured Yun Chuman's side profile.
She could be seen scrambling to her feet. Then she knelt on the ground and her head thrown back. Her long, black hair cascaded down, revealing her features.
A full forehead, a high, straight nose, and a long, slender neck.
A ray of sunlight fell directly on her face. Yun Chuman's eyes were tightly closed, her thick eyelashes trembling nervously. The shadows casted down shatter the sunlight.
Beside her were two adorable little bundles.
It should have been a beautiful scene, but unfortunately, Yun Chuman was currently bleeding profusely from her nose and her chin, neck, and hands were covered in blood.
Li Rufei's temples throbbed at the sight.
The reason he had allowed Yun Chuman to bring Yun Juan onto the show was twofold: firstly, Yun Juan was already somewhat famous, and secondly, he was drawn to the striking good looks of the mother and child.
Their personas were already planned: a melancholic, beautiful single mother and a domineering, arrogant child star.
Who would have thought that Yun Chuman would stumble and fall right away, shattering her "melancholy" image? Not only that, but a child had also appeared out of nowhere!
Li Rufei grew increasingly angry, even considering demanding compensation for breach of contract.
Yun Chuman, of course, was unaware of all this; she only hoped to stop the nosebleed quickly.
But she dared not open her eyes, afraid of fainting again.
At this time, Yun Shu whispered, "Elder Brother, let's call Elder Sister Nurse. Mommy's bleeding a lot."
The child's soft voice still trembled, sounding like tearing up.
Upon hearing the word "nurse," Yun Chuman's alarm bells rang. She waved her hand haphazardly, "No need, no need, Mommy's fine. It's just a nosebleed, it'll stop soon."
The two children didn't speak. The room was quiet for a moment before footsteps sounded.
"Little Juan? Little Shu?"
Yun Chuman panicked. What had she said wrong? Why had both children run away?
Just as she hesitated whether to open her eyes, a soft, warm little hand suddenly supported the back of her head.
"Does it hurt, Mommy?"
Yun Shu's worried voice came from beside her.
The little girl stood on a small stool with head bowed, asking anxiously.
She supported Yun Chuman's head with her left hand, and with her right, she carefully wiped the blood from her chin and her nose with a tissue.
The touch was like a tickle. Yun Chuman couldn't help but wrinkle her nose, shaking her head and laughing, "It doesn't hurt, it tickles."
She couldn't help but sigh inwardly; her daughter was indeed a little cotton jacket, so warm and comforting. Although she wasn't her biological daughter, she wanted to hug her.
Soon, Yun Juan's voice came from the other side: "Little Shu, lift Mommy's head up."
"Okay," Yun Shu obediently replied.
At the same time, Yun Chuman felt a barely perceptible force near the back of her head. She didn't struggle, but instead tilted her head back slightly, only then did the force disappear.
A cool, damp towel appeared on the back of her neck and forehead, while a warm little hand gently pinched the center of her nose.
Without visual protection, the two contrasting temperatures were magnified infinitely. Yun Chuman couldn't help but shiver.
"Drink some cool water."
Yun Juan spoke again.
Yun Chuman felt her lips touch a straw. She opened her mouth and took a sip of water, her cheeks quickly puffing out.
"Don't swallow."
Though the child's voice was still very childish, the tone was calm and inexplicably convincing.
Yun Chuman's swallowing motion stopped abruptly.
Soon afterward, she realized the nosebleed had stopped!
Yun Chuman belatedly realized that the two children's method was the scientific way to stop a nosebleed.
Was she… being taken care of by the two children? Viewers in the live stream shared similar thoughts.
—Why do I feel like the two kids are more reliable than their mother?
—Those two little ones are so well-behaved and amazing!
—When I was their age, I would just cry when I had a nosebleed.
—I'm different. I raise my hand. If my left nostril is bleeding, I raise my right hand; else, I raise my left!
—Am I the only one wondering what Yun Shu looks like? Why is she always looking down?
—Haha, this family's dynamic is interesting. I'll keep an eye on them.
“Director Li, the matter is resolved.” The assistant breathed a sigh of relief.
“Xiao Wang!”
Li Rufei turned his head, his eyes shining.
The assistant was startled by his expression: “Director Li, let's talk this out…” It didn’t stop the light bulb in someone's eye!
Li Rufei grabbed his assistant's hands excitedly, "I just thought of a perfect character setup for Yun Chuman's family!"
"Wh-what?"
"A useless but beautiful single mother, her mature and steady young son, and her sweet and obedient young daughter! Isn't that amazing!"
The assistant's lips twitched. It reminded him of an old novel he read as a child, "Billionaire CEO and Genius Baby's Clumsy Mom," except Yun Chuman's setup was clearly inferior—only clumsy, no genius baby, no billionaire CEO.
However, he dared not voice these criticisms, only offering a soulless exclamation of praise: "Wow~ Director Li, your brain is truly brilliant!"
"Of course!" Li Rufei tossed his head, quite proudly.
At this moment, Yun Juan and Yun Shu stood on small stools, heads slightly bowed, watching motionless Yun Chuman, whose eyes were closed.
Yun Juan's brows furrowed. Mommy seemed different today.
He initially thought Mommy would be angry and ignore them since little Shu hadn't behaved, but unexpectedly, she was smiling at them. He glanced at the dark camera. Was it because of these things?
The little boy pursed his lips. His chubby little hand secretly touched Yun Chuman's hair, a mixture of happiness and grievance on his face. He himself didn't know why he felt such complex emotions.
Yun Chuman had been kneeling for a long time and her legs began to go numb. She tentatively opened her eyes, and what she saw was a small hand pinching the side of her nose, chubby and white, with a little dimple on the back of its hand.
She wanted to pinch it.
Yun Chuman blinked, resisting the urge to pinch, and smiled, "Little Juan, little Shu, I'm all better now, thank you."
Both children were startled, awkwardly withdrawing their little hands. Yun Shu even took the wet towel from the back of her neck.
Yun Chuman stood up, glanced around, and, based on the original owner's memories, found the bathroom. She said, "I'm going to wash my face," and hurriedly left.
Only after seeing her enter the bathroom, Yun Juan squatted down and slowly picked up the blood-stained tissues from the floor.
Yun Shu toddled over and placed the two small stools back against the wall. She squatted down beside Yun Juan, tugging at the rabbit ears on her pajamas, and whispered, "Elder Brother, Mommy said thank you to us!"
"En."
Yun Juan responded, tried his best to purse his lips a few times, but ultimately couldn't hold back and let them curl upwards slightly.
Yun Chu Man closed the bathroom door, turned on the tap, splashed a handful of cold water on her face, rubbed it vigorously, and repeated this a few times before lifting her head.
She blinked hard, squeezing the water droplets from her eyelashes, and finally saw the woman's face clearly in the mirror.
An oval face, willow-leaf eyebrows, a teardrop nose—every feature was exquisite.
Most beautiful were her grape-like eyes, crystal clear, and with the slightly downturned corners, she looked utterly pitiful.
Yun Chuman touched her cheek. This face was nine-tenths similar to her original appearance!
However, she was much thinner and her cheeks sunken, looking sickly.
Yun Chuman was slightly stunned. So this was what she looked like if she was healthy?
In her previous life, she was born weak and entered the intensive care unit. The hospital became her second home; she practically never left the room. Even a few steps were too much for her body.
Her family cherished her like a fragile doll, but she still didn't live past twenty.
Yun Chuman sighed. With her gone; don’t know how heartbroken her family would be.
But thinking about it, it was perhaps a good thing. Unable to even walk in the end, she had become a burden to them. Their lives revolved around caring for her.
She hoped that after her passing, her parents and elder brother could quickly recover and enjoy their own lives.
Yun Chuman patted her cheeks forcefully. She had to pull herself together! This was a miraculous second life, a life with a healthy body!
She pinched her arm; it was slender but covered with a thin layer of muscle, full of elasticity, and felt wonderful—completely different from her previous skin-and-bones arms.
This was a healthy body!
Yun Chuman was so excited she wanted to run 800 meters to make up for her lost student days.
But she had more important things to do now, so she could only jump around a couple of times to calm her urge to run.
She didn't know where the original owner had gone, or if she would ever return.
However, she had already made up her mind. What she needed to do now was avoid being cannon fodder and raise the two children well!
If the original owner returned someday, what she had done could be considered payment for occupying her body; if the original owner didn't return, she could still live well.
Yun Chuman nodded vigorously at herself in the mirror. That's the plan!
She planned to organize the original owner's information before formulating a specific plan. When she opened the bathroom door and went outside, she saw two little cubbies sitting side by side on the sofa and each holding a small piece of twisted dough stick.
With her head down, Yun Shu took a small bite of the twisted dough stick, drank some water, and swung her short legs back and forth, looking quite happy.
Next to her, Yun Juan’s cheeks puffed out. He choked while swallowing, closing his eyes in pain and pounding his chest with his little fists.
Yun Chu Man unconsciously put on a mask of pain as well.
"Elder Brother, drink some water."
Yun Shu handed him her water cup.
Yun Juan took a big gulp before swallowing the twisted dough stick, letting out a long sigh of relief, "Thank you, Younger Sister."
The two then continued dangling their legs and munching on their twisted dough sticks.
Yun Chuman was stunned. The two children looked rather pitiful…
