Chapter 4
The red mark wasn't very dark, extending from the bridge of her nose down to the sides of her cheeks and just below her eyes, shaped like a cloud.
Yun Chuman stared intently at Yun Shu. The little girl had fair skin and bright black eyes, and the perfectly placed cloud-like red mark added to her charm and uniqueness; she was practically a work of art!
However, many viewers watching the live stream didn't think so.
"—Is that a birthmark? Younger Sister is so pretty, it's a shame she has this blemish."
"Oh my god, will the color of a birthmark darken? Won't it be almost like disfigurement later?"
"Poor little Shu, I hope it's a birthmark that will fade naturally."
Yun Shu, of course, was unaware of the comments. She noticed the camera was filming her and instinctively lowered her head.
Yun Juan immediately shielded her behind him, glaring fiercely at the camera.
Yun Chuman finally understood why Yun Shu had been keeping her head down; this reaction clearly showed she was self-conscious about the red mark on her face.
She frowned. What about the original owner's attitude? Would a mother think her daughter was ugly? Could this be why she didn't want Yun Shu on camera?
She looked at the flustered little girl, who was frantically fidgeting with her fingers, with heartache. She wanted to say something comforting, but in the end, nothing came out.
To help Yun Shu regain her confidence, she needed to change her perception of the red mark. This wouldn't be easy. Yun Chuman needed to plan carefully. The best thing to do now was to avoid mentioning anything related to the red marks. Children were sensitive, and saying the wrong thing might make her even more upset.
Yun Chuman tried to distract the two children.
She clutched her stomach, feigning discomfort, and said weakly, "I'm so hungry. Little Juan and little Shu, Mommy thinks I'm about to faint from hunger."
Hearing this, the two children's attention immediately shifted to her.
Yun Shu, with her short legs, ran to her side, took her hand, and urged, "Mommy, let's go inside quickly."
Yun Juan silently took her other hand and pulled her forward.
Yun Chuman smiled, slowing her pace appropriately and giving them a little weight.
So the fried chicken shop staff saw two little children huffing and puffing ahead, each holding one hand, diligently and earnestly pulling a woman inside.
Yun Chuman walked to the counter, smiling, and said, "Three kids’ meals. Can I have different toys?"
"Of course, please wait a moment."
Before the staff could react, she was bombarded with a close-up view of her beauty. Feeling her cheeks slightly flush, she quickly lowered her head, her eyes fixed on the order screen.
The food came out quickly.
Carrying her overflowing tray, Yun Chuman looked for the seats, instructing, "Little Juan and little Shu, stay close to me and don't run around."
The two children responded; their grip shifting from holding her hands to gently tugging at her clothes and obediently hanging on her like little accessories.
Yun Chuman finally found a corner seat.
It couldn’t be helped. The production crew was still with them and only here would they not disturb the other diners.
The toys included with the children's meals featured characters from popular cartoons.
Yun Juan pretended not to care, but his eyes were practically glued to the little toys.
Yun Shu was much more open, completely captivated by the little toys.
Yun Chuman hadn't watched the cartoons. Although the toys were cute, she wasn't really interested; she put them aside without even opening them.
Her eyes lit up as she looked at the fried chicken burger in front of her. The unique aroma made her stomach rumble.
Yun Chuman couldn't wait to take a big bite, but she resisted.
After all, it was her first time eating it, so it was a memorable experience.
She carefully wiped her hands with a wet wipe, then cleaned the two children before picking up the burger, and taking small bites.
The soft, sweet bun mixed with the crispy fried chicken.
Yun Chuman was so moved she almost cried. So this was what a "fattiness happiness meal" tasted like! Much better than she'd imagined!
Yun Juan stared wide-eyed at her, then at his half-eaten burger. Why did he think Mommy's one tasted better?
Yun Shu ate while stealing glances at Yun Chuman. Seeing that Yun Chuman had finished her fried chicken and hamburger, she pushed her uneaten portion of fried chicken in front of her and whispered, "Mommy..."
Yun Chuman paused. Then she asked, "Is little Shu giving this to me?"
The little girl nodded, her short legs swinging happily back and forth. "En."
Yun Chuman noticed her little gesture and didn't refuse the child's kindness. She took a big bite of the fried chicken and her face immediately lit up with happiness.
"Is it good?" Yun Shu asked expectantly.
"Of course it's good! This is from little Shu. It tastes different."
Yun Chuman smiled, "Little Juan and little Shu, do you know what food is the best?"
Before the two children could answer, she placed two egg tarts in front of them. "The answer is that what others give is the best. You two try it and see if my egg tarts are sweeter."
The two little bundles, sitting side by side, exchanged a glance, picked up the egg tarts with a mixture of belief and doubt, and took a bite in unison. Their cheeks puffed up simultaneously.
Yun Shu paused for a moment before quickening the pace of her cheek movements and swallowed the egg tart in her mouth before exclaiming in a rising voice, "It really is! So sweet!"
Yun Juan tilted his head in confusion. It was almost the same as what he had just eaten. He frowned and bit his tongue. Had he already lost his sense of taste at such a young age?
Yun Shu happily finished the egg tart and then started exchanging fries with Yun Chuman. Seeing them enjoying themselves, Yun Juan couldn't resist joining in a couple of times, but still couldn't taste any difference.
The kid's meal wasn't large, but Yun Juan and Yun Shu still couldn't finish it.
So, it gradually became a one-sided feeding of Yun Chuman. When her portion was finished, they would take Yun Juan's and continue feeding, until Yun Chuman was completely stuffed.
Yun Juan frowned. His little brow furrowed and said worriedly, "Mommy, you ate too much."
Embarrassed, Yun Chuman blushed and said, "It was too delicious. I'll pay attention next time."
Yun Juan nodded seriously, "Yes, eating too much will hurt your stomach. Next time you can take it to go."
The restaurant was crowded, so Yun Chuman didn't stay long before leaving.
When they returned to their neighborhood, it was quite lively. Many people were already out enjoying the cool evening air and taking a stroll.
Yun Chuman felt unwell from being so full, so she took the two children for a walk around the neighborhood to help them digest their food and familiarize with the environment.
When they reached the center of the neighborhood, she was drawn to the sound of children's screams and laughter.
Turning her head, she saw a small playground. The facilities were new, seemingly recently built, with slides, parallel bars, seesaws, and...swings!
When Yun Chuman was little, she watched an animated film where the protagonist could fly on a swing. From then on, she always wanted to ride a swing, but unfortunately, her body couldn't withstand the wind, and she never got to.
Her eyes lit up. She was incredibly healthy now! She could try everything she'd never played before but always wanted to! Starting with the swing!
At this time, Yun Shu shook her hand.
Yun Chuman looked down and saw the little girl rub her cheek against the back of her hand and whisper, "Mommy, do you want to play? Elder Brother and I can play with you."
Standing beside her, Yun Juan nodded, with an expression that said, "I can reluctantly play with you for a little while."
Yun Chuman was stunned. Was her intention really that obvious?
She glanced at the playground overrun by the little rascals and her cheeks flushing instantly. She forced a dry laugh, "Haha, Mommy is an adult now. Why would I be interested in these things? I was just looking to see if there is anything suitable for little Juan and little Shu to play with."
Yun Shu shook her head, "Elder Brother and I don't like playing here."
Yun Juan said disdainfully, "Childish."
Yun Chuman, who had just been plotting how to conquer the playground: ...
Since both children said so, she could only reluctantly leave the playground.
Her figure could still be seen in the live stream, turning back her head every few steps.
—Hahaha, so Yun Chuman really wanted to play.
—Who can resist a swing that lets you fly high?
—Yun Juan and Yun Shu silently looked upstairs.
—I'm envious, I also want to experience the joy of being fed and playing with two kids!
After returning home, Yun Chuman watched cartoons with Yun Juan and Yun Shu for a while. Around eight o'clock, the two children started yawning.
Yun Chuman guided them through their bedtime routine, carefully watching them brush their teeth and wash their faces. There were constant correction to the teeth brushing. She hoped even their teeth would be healthy.
She had originally planned to tell Yun Juan and Yun Shu a bedtime story, but the two children were incredibly well-behaved, changing into their pajamas, covering themselves with their blankets, and patting themselves to sleep.
Yun Chuman stood at the door, watching the two little bundles slowly drift off to sleep.
Realizing she was useless, she whispered, "Goodnight, little Juan and little Shu," and left.
The moment she closed the door, the two sleeping children abruptly opened their eyes.
However, Yun Chuman was oblivious. She returned to the bedroom, intending to carefully review the information in her mind.
The original owner, as a cannon fodder female supporting character, must have had connections to the male and female leads.
In fact, before the original owner was eight years old, she had lived with the female lead as twins, but their relationship was poor because their parents only loved the female lead.
Even though the original owner of this body strived to excel, she couldn't gain her parents' attention.
However, when she was eight years old, an even greater gap appeared: the female lead turned into the "deceased" youngest daughter of the wealthy Yun Family.
Left behind, the original owner was even more disliked by her parents, subjected to verbal abuse and physical beatings.
She knew that the only way to escape this life was through education, but her parents refused to pay her tuition, claiming that girls didn't need such a high level of education.
At a young age, the original owner had to collect and sell bottles to support herself through school. Her life only improved after she entered high school and could earn scholarships. Fortunately, she ultimately succeeded and was admitted to a prestigious university.
However, just as she was about to leave her dysfunctional family and start a new life, she reunited with the female lead and met the male lead, who was the female lead's childhood sweetheart.
She discovered that the university she had worked so hard to get into was merely a stepping stone to higher places for the female lead.
The original owner couldn't accept the stark contrast in their circumstances. Consumed by jealousy, she constantly targeted the female lead during university and relentlessly pursued the male lead. However, the male and female leads had long harbored feelings for each other and confirmed their relationship at graduation.
Unwilling to accept this, the original owner resorted to underhanded means to have intercourse with the male lead that very night.
She intended to destroy their relationship, but to her surprise, she didn't even see them the next day. After inquiring, she learned that they had gone to the airport early the next morning and had already left the country.
Afterwards, the original owner gave birth to Yun Juan and Yun Shu, believing that one day she would see the two leads again and would use her children as bargaining chips.
Year after year passed. Just as she was about to give up, she unexpectedly encountered the two leads again on the family variety show, "Every Family Has Its Own Affairs."
After returning to the country, the female lead entered the entertainment industry. Given her status as the real heiress of a once-sensational wealthy family, she naturally became a guest on the family variety show, "Every Family Has Its Own Affairs."
After the pilot episode aired, the original owner finally saw the female lead. By then, the male and female leads were already engaged, which made her even more resentful. She used the show's rules to repeatedly approach them and even used the two children as tools to break them up.
Just when she thought she was about to succeed, she was suddenly told that Yun Juan and Yun Shu weren't the male lead's children at all!
The male lead had known about her plan all along and hadn't shown up that night. The person she had slept with was a stranger.
Unable to accept the truth, the original owner went berserk, seeking revenge on the male and female leads. She did many extreme things, all of which were broadcast live on the variety show. She was condemned by the entire internet, went insane, and was eventually sent to a mental hospital.
After reading all the information, Yun Chuman's first reaction was: Who was the biological father of the two children? Where did the two children go after the original owner was sent to the mental hospital?
The information was clearly incomplete; many details were missing.
And what she couldn't understand most was why the original owner, a person who worked hard to change her fate and was clearly very capable, lost her mind as soon as she encountered the male and female leads. Yun Chuman suddenly felt a sense of crisis. Could it be a plot control? If so, wouldn't she be in danger too?
She sprang up in bed. No, she couldn't run into the male and female leads! She couldn’t continue to record this variety show!
