LLPM Teaser 5

 Chapter 5 A lonely city

Luo Jin was stunned, "Take me... for what?"

"Afraid that they may encounter trouble on the road. You are a lucky star. Taking you is more lucky." Chai Jing grinned, "Second Elder Brother is my only brother from the same mother. I have the closest relationship with him, so of course I have to consider his well-being.

【Isn’t it dangerous? I am such a weak woman. What if Xiyuan Kingdom sends a master to snatch Jiang Ge and kill me while he is at it? 】

【I am not a lucky star. I don’t have the halo of the protagonist. I will really die if I encounter a bad guy! 】

【Quickly think of a reason to refuse, hurry up...】

【Pretend to be sick! Yes, pretend to be sick! Pretend that I am about to die and he can't take me along, can he? 】

"One hundred taels a day." Chai Jing continued.

"I will follow His Highness the Second Prince to the death!"

"..."

Before leaving for Xiyuan, his subordinate came to report that Jiang Ge wanted to see Qin Huaying once.

Chai Heng pondered about it for a long time and finally agreed, escorting Jiang Ge to the bottom of the Sky Prison.

Luo Jin didn't know why she was called here again. She was currently an employee with a positive attitude toward work. Since the boss told her to follow, she followed.

Qin Huaying's complexion was much better than before. She finally gave up her struggle and started eating well and nurturing her baby. It was just that she had no heart to dress up at this time and still looked haggard.

Her matter hadn’t been spread. Even her father, Grand Tutor Qin's official position hadn’t been affected at all.

When she saw Jiang Ge, she lowered her head and turned around. Her shoulders were shaking slightly, obviously crying.

Jiang Ge didn't speak. He sighed for a long time and said, "You... take care of yourself."

Qin Huaying softly responded "En".

Jiang Ge turned around and left.

Luo Jin followed, tilted her head curiously and asked, "You may not see each other again in the future, why don't you say a few more words?"

Jiang Ge frowned deeply, "She doesn't like people to see her looking bad."

Luo Jin pouted, "When she gets old and ugly, she won't see people anymore? Wait... when I saw her before, she was uglier than this. She doesn’t treat me as a human being?"

Chai Heng sent Luo Jin back to Lihua Courtyard to pack her things. Early tomorrow morning, they will leave for Xiyuan Kingdom.

Chai Jing pulled Chai Heng into the room and instructed, "Take good care of my Jin'er and don't let her lose a hair."

"Don't worry, there are many experts with us this time. Nothing will happen to her." Chai Heng looked at Luo Jin's room, "You told me to take her with me because you thought she might know something, right?"

Chai Jing shrugged and said, "Maybe, but that's not my intention."

"Then why did you tell me to take her with me?"

"I just want to..." Chai Jing smiled mysteriously, "I want you to see what a normal girl looks like, so that you won't think about that poisonous woman Qin Huaying all the time. In fact, I have long disliked her. All day long, she put up air. So pretentious. I don’t know why you like this kind of woman.”

Chai Heng frowned and said, "It’s proper business, don't fool around."

"I'm not fooling around," Chai Jing's tone became serious, "You like Qin Huaying because you have never seen the world. My Jin'er, although she is a bit of a money grubber, gluttonous, and lazy, but I don't know why, she is lovable. You will know once you interact with her. I believe that along the way, she will definitely make you forget Qin Huaying."

Chai Heng froze. Then he suddenly stood up, "It can’t be that you want me to... marry her as my concubine, do you?"

"Tch, dream too beautifully!" Chai Jing rolled her eyes at him, "I just want her to soothe your injured heart. Become your concubine? You want to repay kindness with hatred, right? She can be regarded as the benefactor who saved us two siblings. I will find a particularly good marriage for her sooner or later."

Chai Heng was silent.

If it weren't for Luo Jin, he would have already proposed marriage to Qin Huaying. The outcome would probably be what Luo Jin said, raising his son for Jiang Ge and then dying in the hands of Qin Huaying. He would even be used by Qin Huaying to get out confidential information about national affairs, harming the entire Dongyuan.

His younger sister, Chai Jing may also have a tragic fate because she married a wicked person. But Luo Jin changed everything. It must be said that she was their benefactor.

Early the next morning, Chai Heng's men drove a carriage to pick up Luo Jin.

In the past, Chai Jing had not paid much attention to Luo Jin, a little palace maid. But since hearing her internal voice and their interactions in the past few days have made her somewhat reluctant to part with Luo Jin.

"Take care of yourself on the way," Chai Jing waved her hand and Attendant Zhao handed over a small bundle, "These are some cakes I have prepared for you. Eat them if you are hungry on the way."

Luo Jin accepted the bundle and said, "Thank you Princess."

【The princess is so kind, completely different from the one in the novel! 】

【On the way back, I’ll bring her local specialties... Just don't make them too expensive. Forget it, just be a little more expensive is fine. 】

【Hope it’s a smooth journey and make a lot of money! 】

Chai Jing couldn't help but grin.

It was really rare for this little money-lover to be willing to spend money and buy her a gift.

……

The carriage left the city and met up with Chai Heng.

Chai Heng's convoy consisted of five carriages and more than thirty horses, forming a mighty cavalry.

Jiang Ge was sitting in the largest carriage. Accompanying in the carriage were three guards, guarding him to ensure that he had no chance to escape.

The destination of the convoy was a small border town called Shacheng, which was the border city between Xiyuan Kingdom and Dongyuan Kingdom. It was a buffer place agreed between the two countries and neither side stationed troops here.

Shacheng was hundreds of miles away from Weicheng, the capital of Dongyuan Kingdom. It took seven or eight days to get there by carriage.

"You’ll sit in the same carriage as me." Chai Heng pointed to the carriage next to him, "This carriage is more stable."

"Yes!" Luo Jin responded.

When she got on the carriage, she realized that it didn't look big from the outside, but it was surprisingly spacious inside. There were tables, chairs, bookcases, and even a couch for sleeping.

On the road, Chai Heng kept reading a book while Luo Jin dozed off beside him. When she woke up, she found food on the table and reached out to take it. Suddenly she remembered her identity and retracted her hand. She stared at Chai Heng longingly and blinked desperately as a hint.

Chai Heng only found it amusing, "Eat it, eat whatever you want."

"Thank you, Your Highness!"

Luo Jin picked up a chicken leg and started to chew it.

【The chicken legs are a little dry. They won’t be so dry if they were wrapped in batter and fried. 】

【His Royal Highness, the Second Prince is gentle and handsome, but he has bad taste and likes that green tea Qin Huaying. But now he is fine. Finally out of trouble. 】

【So tiring. My neck is sore. This carriage is so bumpy. 】

【It would be great if there is a high-speed rail and this journey would only takes less than two hours. 】

【His Royal Highness, the Second Prince is still reading. It turns out he works so hard... but he doesn't seem smart. 】

Chai Heng coughed violently.

"Your Highness, drink some water!" Luo Jin enthusiastically handed over the water, "Have some water and it’ll be fine."

Somewhat depressed, Chai Heng took the water and drank it in one gulp.

"Is His Highness unhappy?" Luo Jin received the cup with a smile, "Are you thinking about Miss Qin again?"

"No." Chai Heng replied in a sullen voice.

After he finished speaking, he was suddenly stunned.

He didn't lie. He really didn't think of Qin Huaying.

He had been paying attention to Luo Jin's thoughts along the way and unknowingly shifted his attention. Now that Luo Jin mentioned it, he didn't feel the same heartache as before.

"I've heard people say that the best way to heal a relationship is to start a new relationship." Luo Jin couldn't stop talking once she started talking. "Why don't I help His Highness introduce a good miss? I have good eyes and never judge wrongly!”

【Speaking of which, the person more suitable for the second prince... I remember that Ke'er also married a scumbag. She isn’t a love brain and  later came out with the help of the heroine. No bad ending, en... 】

【But she is the daughter of a minor official. Will the second prince have any concerns about her status? The old emperor doesn't seem to be feudal minded. He probably won't dislike a daughter-in-law with low status, right? 】

【Maybe he would give her father a promotion. I’m doing a good deed, right? 】

【It can’t be that I’m a genius? 】

【Anyway, I think it will work if these two people are brought together! 】

Chai Heng: "..."

He knew that Luo Jin's inner monologue was always rich, but this was too rich.

Just looking at the surface, one would have thought she was a quiet girl. But he felt that her quiet appearance might just be due to his status and prevented her from speaking casually.

He suddenly had a wish: if only she could speak as much as her inner monologue. If she was willing to say these words herself, then he would feel lucky in this life.

Luo Jin felt sleepy after eating. She asked tentatively: "Can I...servant sleep on that couch?"

"Go sleep."

 "Okay!"

Luo Jin laid down on the couch and soon her breathing became even. She was asleep.

Chai Heng put down the book and stared blankly at her sleeping face.

This little palace maid was good at gaining an inch and asking for a foot. Give her food and she had the courage to ask to sleep on the couch. If it were anyone else, he would feel quite displeased.

But for some reason, when Luo Jin did this, he only found it interesting and didn't feel disgusted at all.

The carriage stopped and the coachman said outside the carriage: "Your Highness, we have arrived at the posthouse."

"Okay, pass the order; rest here tonight and continue on the journey tomorrow morning."

 "yes!"

The coachman raised the curtain, put down the stool, and accidentally glanced into the carriage. His eyes almost popped out in an instant.

"Your Highness, she... how dare she..." The coachman lowered his voice, "Your Highness never lets others touch the bed, even if it is a temporary bed in the carriage..."

This coachman's name was Ah Xuan. As Chai Heng's bodyguard, he had followed Chai Heng for many years and knew that his master had some mysophobia.

Chai Heng said with a straight face, "If not? Where do you want her to sleep?"

"Uh...does she have to sleep during the day? It's not like there's no place to sleep at night..."

Ah Xuan didn't understand. She was obviously a palace maid. How dare she ask for a nap on the way? Who would spoil a palace maid to this point?

Chai Heng didn't answer, but just ordered, "Give her a separate room, prepare bath water, and get more delicious food."

Ah Xuan: "???"
