Chapter 34

In the evening.

For once, the four members of the Jiāng Family sat at the same table for a meal.

Under the comfort of her mother, Jiāng Zhiyu had returned to normal. She apologized to Father and Elder Brother with a well-behaved look on her face, saying that it was her momentary impulse that caused the entire Jiāng Family's reputation to be damaged. She had thought it through and would never do such a stupid thing again.

The smile on Jiāng Zhiyu's face was very forced, especially when she said the last sentence: "I... I am willing to marry Gong Xuanan and comply with everything arranged by Father."

Father Jiāng looked up with some surprise. It was obvious that he did not expect that this most difficult daughter would admit her mistakes one day and be willing to marry Gong Xuanan.

One must know what Jiāng Zhiyu hated most before was marriage alliance.

It seemed that the lesson she received this time really scared her.

Father Jiāng's face, which was as dark as an iron pot, finally eased a little,, "It would have been better if you have been like this earlier."

"Xiaoyu is insensible. I have already lectured her." Song Xuelian poured a glass of red wine for her husband, and showed some distress again, saying, "But the Gong Family has been in chaos recently because of the illegitimate son's seizure of power. It's not certain who will win. If..."

Song Xuelian didn't finish her words, while her eyes were full of worry.

Father Jiāng understood his wife's meaning. If the person who finally got the inheritance right of the Gong Family was not Gong Xuanan, they would have lost their daughter in vain.

Song Xuelian held her husband's hand again, looking even more embarrassed and said: "And the Jiang Family said that Xiaoqi isn't willing to marry over."

Sure enough.

The direction of the conflict turned toward Jiāng Fengzhi.

The young man raised his head and looked at his mother with an unsmiling smile,, "What do you mean by that?"

Song Xuelian still had a gentle smile on her face: "Of course, Mom hopes that you can be happy. What else can it mean."

Father Jiāng was indeed a little angry. He never thought that his two children could not even accomplish the task of marriage alliance. As his children, they were actually despised by outsiders. He scolded, "Two wastes."

Song Xuelian hurriedly coaxed her husband again, saying intimately: "This matter is not up to the children to decide. But you can't force them too much. It's okay to take it slow for a while."

Father Jiāng nodded, "Then let's finish the company's cooperation project first."

He picked up the chopsticks again. At the sight of the pair of useless children in front of him, he seemed to have no appetite, got up, and walked upstairs.

Song Xuelian hurriedly followed.

At the dining table, only Jiāng Zhiyu and Jiāng Fengzhi were left.

The timid expression on Jiāng Zhiyu's face disappeared. With her mother's support, she became rampant again.

She looked up at her elder brother and said sarcastically, "Elder brother, I never expected that she wouldn't want to marry you. After so many years, you still hide the scarf in the study like a treasure. So pitiful."

Jiāng Fengzhi was not angry, but replied slowly, "Then I wish you and Gong Xuanan have a son soon."

Jiāng Zhiyu's face froze.

She raised the red wine glass at hand and wanted to splash it on Jiāng Fengzhi's face, but the other party stood up first and held her wrist.

Jiāng Fengzhi looked down at her condescendingly.

Though he still had a polite smile on his face, his voice became cold: "Truly a rude and vulgar bloodline, which can't be changed at all."

After saying that.

He took a tissue and wiped the skin that had touched Jiāng Zhiyu, as if he had touched something dirty.

After dinner.

Gu Qi kicked everyone out and took a comfortable bath.

How great.

Her world was finally quiet.

Comfortable all over.

Gu Qi laid on the bed in her pajamas. After reading the script for a while, her phone vibrated.

Picking it up, it was a text message from Hang Ze.

[You can come to our company tomorrow for a face-to-face interview]

Hang Ze was naturally 100% satisfied with Gu Qi.

In Hang Ze's heart, a movie that makes money was a good movie, and an actor who makes money was a good actor.

Gu Qi's popularity and traffic behind her now made him 100% satisfied.

However, Hang Ze's Jinyue Film and Television was jointly controlled by five well-known directors in the industry five years ago. It could be said that it was the most ideal destination for every actor in the domestic entertainment industry. Because as long as one could enter Jinyue, different directors represent different development directions and would formulate the most suitable development path for the actors.

And when joining Jinyue Film and Television, an old voting system was adopted.

Only when at least three of the five directors agree would they sign a contract with the actor. The number of actors they sign each year was very limited, but the purpose of such strict control of the number was to ensure that every artist in the company could have a production to act in and a good production to act in, rather than signing them and ignoring their future development path. They would never bury any actor.

The five directors have had great differences in their creative path in the past two years; some insist on creating art films to win international awards, while others want to make more money with commercial films as their main goal. Despite this, their relationship had become more and more stable. No matter what kind of actor entered Jinyue, they could find a suitable development path, whether it was word-of-mouth awards or production payment.

Hang Ze directly sent Gu Qi a script called 'Spring Birth' and told her to find a favorite scene to perform tomorrow.

The script was very simple, telling the story of a very ordinary middle-aged woman, whose life from birth to school to marriage and childbirth was mediocre every step.

Get an ordinary score, marry a man who looks compatible to outsiders, have a pair of children, and do an ordinary sales job.

Every day was busy, but nothing was done.

Until one day, on the way back from sending her children to school, she met a little girl by chance.

For some reason, she couldn't see the girl's face clearly.

She asked the girl curiously why she didn't go to school. In turn, the girl asked her why she should go to school.

The woman didn't understand why the child would ask such a question. Adults go to work and children go to school. This was the position that everyone should occupy as part of society.

The girl said again that she didn't want to go to school and didn't want to do what everyone thought she should do.

Although she was very young, she had many dreams.

The girl said a lot. The woman was surprised to find that every dream the girl said was something that existed in her memory and was also her dream.

She was suddenly awakened and felt tired of life. She wanted to escape from her numb life that repeated day after day.

She told everyone that she wanted to find her childhood dream and wanted to live for herself, but she was constantly ridiculed by people around her and told her to wake up.

She was a mother, a wife, and a child of elderly parents. She had many identities and many responsibilities.

Did she want to abandon everything now to pursue those illusory things? Don't be so stupid.

No one took her words seriously. They all thought it was a woman's whim and nonsense, which couldn't be taken seriously and would be forgetten in a few days.

But the woman kept thinking about it. Her thoughts deepened with each pondering.

She wanted to save some money to see the beautiful mountains and rivers that she had written in her notebook when she was in elementary school, to see the customs and cultures outside, and to see how other people live.

But every time she was ready to embark on the life she longed for, she would always be stopped by difficulties that occured.

For example, her parents who suddenly fell ill, her son who broke his bones in a physical education class, and her husband who almost committed suicide on a high building because of a flaw in the company's contract.

There were too many things in her life that stopped her again and again.

She could only sigh and tell herself to do it next time.

The piggy bank that was originally used to save the dream fund went from zero to full, but then went from full to zero again.

Then she got older and older.

Her parents died, her husband retired, and her children had children.

She had a new identity, she was a grandmother, and she had new responsibilities.

Her granddaughter asked her with the most innocent eyes: "Grandmother, what is your dream?"

She could only touch the child's head.

Take out the last banknote in the piggy bank: "Grandmother's dream is that our little granddaughter can eat her most favorite candy."

She still didn't live for herself in her life in the end.

Later, she dreamed of the girl she had once met. This time she finally saw her face clearly.

The little girl stretched out her hand to invite her to embark on the road to this world together. Although she was gray-haired this time, she still stretched out her hand.

She finally kept her promise with her young self.

Although it was too late, it unknown whether it was a dream or reality at this moment.

A typical art film. Because there was no strong emotional conflict and explosion of characters, it was difficult to show the actors' acting skills in a short time. It was the most difficult type of film for actors.

Gu Qi pursed her lips.

Despite knowing the difficulty, she felt excited but because it was a performance.

The long-hidden competitive spirit was ignited at this moment.

She was an actor.

It had been too long since she received a good script. It had been too long since she was recognized by professionals. This resulted in her desire to conquer.

She wanted to act this scene well.

Gu Qi got up from the bed, sat in front of the desk, found two pens of different colors, printed out the script and studied it carefully.

Word by word, she went through. Every keyword was deliberately marked by her and the analysis and feelings of each plot were densely written next to it.

When the whole script was carefully read, it was almost dawn.

Gu Qi still did not rest, but drank a cup of coffee, sat back at the desk again. She began to write a biography of the character and her own analysis this time.

Three o'clock in the afternoon.

It was the agreed meeting time.

As soon as she arrived downstairs of Jinyue Film and Television, Gu Qi happened to meet Hang Ze, who was holding popcorn in his arms. The other party obviously saw her and waved enthusiastically.

Gu Qi: "..."

She walked forward and called, "Director Hang."

"What a coincidence." Hang Ze greeted her and replied as he went upstairs with her, "You came very early. Not all of us are here yet. You may have to wait a while."

Gu Qi replied, "No matter. I will just take another look at the script."

Hang Ze looked around before stopping and lowering his voice to Gu Qi's ear, "We have Wei Yan, who shoots art films, here later. He speaks rather harshly. Anyway, he can't veto you with one vote. Just ignore him."

Gu Qi looked at Hang Ze with some surprise. His kind reminder matched Gu Qi's guess.

As one of the most well-known art film directors in China, Wei Yan was actually the person with the worst relationship with Hang Ze in the entire Jinyue director circle.

Hang Ze pursued popular actors, high-profile, high-traffic, high-box office, and commercial films that cater to the market-

These were all what Wei Yan rejected the most.

He believed that movies have a viewing threshold, artistic creations, and were sacred.

No matter when, one couldn't put the cart before the horse and use these gimmicks to cover the movie itself.

Therefore Wei Yan rejected Gu Qi, a black-and-red artist with high headlines. He had a prejudice against them and thought that such people would always be just stars, not actors.

And Hang Ze took her to the prepared room and didn't stop talking all the way.

"What kind of coffee are you drinking? The one across the street, right? It's all instant coffee and tastes terrible."

"Why do you still have this paper bag? You bought their potato cakes. Those are so unpalatable..."

...

Then Hang Ze criticized everything Gu Qi was eating and drinking from all angles.

Gu Qi: "..."

So noisy.

Besides, she and Hang Ze weren't that familiar with each other, were they?

Hang Ze seemed not to notice Gu Qi's rejection of him at all, and just continued: "If you sign with our company, go to our place to film first. You'll get a feel of what the most expensive equipment and top coffee masters are. I can't tell the difference with this kind of stuff. They are all very unpalatable. Still, just buy the expensive ones instead of the right ones. And the chefs in our crew have all won numerous awards abroad..."

Gu Qi took another look at the popcorn next to Hang Ze and fell into deep contemplation at the luxury logo on the box.

By the way, where did he buy this?
