Chapter 28

Gu Qi didn't know when Ning Xiwei came and how long she waited.

But she could imagine how hurried Ning Xiwei came, because she was still wearing her home slippers and one foot was missing it.

One foot was wearing slippers, and the other foot was on the ground.

It was unknown how long she walked like this. The mud on her foot was mixed with blood. There were gravels between her toes that seemed to be stuck in the flesh, looking very dishevelled.

Ning Xiwei stood up and hugged the diary tighter.

She still didn't say anything, but stared at Gu Qi's face, as if she wanted to find some answers from her face.

Gu Qi didn't ask her why she came.

Instead, she said calmly: "Come in first, I'll help you deal with your wound."

Gu Qi's attitude made Ning Xiwei understand instantly-

She knew why she came here.

Ning Xiwei just sat on the sofa in Gu Qi's house, lowered her head, and watched Gu Qi help her clean the wound.

Ning Xiwei's foot was on Gu Qi's legs. She didn't feel any pain when the gravel was taken out with tweezers.

Once Gu Qi helped her disinfect and bandage the wound, Ning Xiwei finally couldn't help it and asked: "Have you helped her like this?"

"No." Gu Qi replied, got up, and walked to the sink to wash: "I just gave her some medicine."

In fact, those were all given to her by Jiāng Zhiyu. It could be considered a 'treasure'. The wound healing effect was amazing. One don't even need to apply any ointment afterwards. The speed at which the scar disappears was so fast that the scar removal medicine on the market couldn't compare.

Gu Qi walked to the shoe cabinet, took out a new pair of soft-soled slippers, and put them at Ning Xiwei's feet, saying: "Just make do with them."

Ning Xiwei got straight to the point: "You know why I came to you."

Gu Qi nodded, turned around and opened a can of juice for herself, and threw another can to Ning Xiwei.

Ning Xiwei took it and put it on the side of the sofa. She wasn't a guest. Seeing how unhurried Gu Qi was, she anxiously blurted: "When did you know?"

Gu Qi calmly replied: "Since you sent someone to investigate me."

After all, with such a big movement, there would always be someone to remind her to pay attention recently.

If a little more money was spent, one could discover Ning Xiwei by following the clues.

Then check the line that connected them. It was the girl who chose to commit suicide on the eve of the college entrance examination because she suffered school bullying.

The girl's name was Meng Yu.

It had been so long that Gu Qi couldn't remember what she looks like.

She only remembered that she was the same as her, quiet and gentle, and the most invisible person in the class.

Gong Xuanan had been a celebrity since junior high school, and even more so in high school.

He had a handsome appearance and a top family background. His grades were among the best in ordinary classes. It was common for him to change several girlfriends in a semester.

Meng Yu's tragedy came from Gong Xuanan seeing his girlfriend picture book listed on the school forum one time and suddenly wanted to try something new, such as the quiet nerd type.

He first set his sights on Gu Qi, but because Gu Qi was classified as the 'property' of the Jiāng Family siblings in their small circle at that time, he could only reluctantly put away these thoughts. Later, after 'selection', he chose Meng Yu, who was in the same class and looked good.

Meng Yu was a typical good girl, so she naturally wouldn't agree to having teen love with Gong Xuanan.

Gong Xuanan was angry after being rejected, but he thought that it was embarrassing for a grown man to be petty with a girl. So he spread the word that Meng Yu had a crush on him and that he didn't fancy her.

Some people added to the rumors: Meng Yu was accused of being shameless, seducing men, and gold digging.

Coincidentally, Meng Yu's father was an employee of the Gong Family branch.

Meng Yu endured it all.

Her character was extremely gentle. In her opinion, it didn't matter and it would always pass.

She didn't have the ability, nor was she stupid enough to fight to the death with a rich young master like Gong Xuanan.

In Meng Yu's opinion, as long as Gong Xuanan vented his anger, everything would be fine.

But seeing her indifferent reaction, Gong Xuanan was completely infuriated.

He found Jiāng Zhiyu and wanted Jiāng Zhiyu to help teach Meng Yu a lesson so that Meng Yu could live a more painful life.

Actually Jiāng Zhiyu had no interest in Gong Xuanan's trivial matters, but the reason why the eldest miss was irked was very simple-

Meng Yu's name had the same character as hers.

At first it was just a very normal and common school bullying.

Someone tore up Meng Yu's books and wrote a few curse words on her desk.

But soon, Jiāng Zhiyu was annoyed by the other party's calm attitude, just like Gong Xuanan.

Since these rich people have done such things, they naturally wanted to see these poor people kneeling at their feet, confessing and expressing fear with tears, and putting down all their self-esteem to beg them to show mercy.

This proved that they were born noble and superior.

They would show their kindness through 'pity', as if letting go of an ant and could freely decide the life of others.

But Meng Yu didn't understand them. Her silence and calmness weren't what they want to see.

Jāng Zhiyu gradually became interested and turned bullying Meng Yu and some other students she disliked into a daily pastime.

It was just that most of the others were more flexible than Meng Yu, crying so hard that tears flow, and even kneeling down to beg Jiāng Zhiyu to show mercy and let them go.

So from the first to the third year of high school, there were only two people who have never been let go by Jiāng Zhiyu.

One was Gu Qi who lived in her house.

The second was Meng Yu in school.

Jiāng Zhiyu once looked at Gu Qi with a smile and commented on Meng Yu: "She is similar to you when you first came to my house. You both have the kind of worthless dignity that only poor people can stick to. You didn't stick to it for a few years, how long can she stick to it? It's really exciting."

These originally had nothing to do with Gu Qi.

It had nothing to do with her.

Gu Qi told herself again and again not to meddle in other people's business.

What else could she do? At most, when Jiāng Zhiyu went to trouble Meng Yu, she would remind Jiāng Zhiyu not to let her followers go too far and then quietly throw the ointment she brought with her to the girl in the corner when she departed with Jiāng Zhiyu.

She couldn't protect herself, so how could she help others.

Until one day, Jiāng Zhiyu's followers pressed Meng Yu's face into the pool and almost caused an accident. Gu Qi couldn't stand it anymore.

She pretended to be very scared to face this kind of thing again, and found countless reasons to avoid it. After several acting, it was as Gu Qi, Jiāng Zhiyu became more aggressive and proposed-

All the bullying of Meng Yu in the future would be left to Gu Qi.

This was what Gu Qi wanted.

Gu Qi secretly passed a note to Meng Yu by putting it in the exercise book when handing out homework.

Gu Qi told Meng Yu that she had no ability to help her, nor would she be her savior. She would even become one of the people who bullied her in the future.

The only thing Gu Qi could do was to reduce her suffering.

When pressing Meng Yu's head into the pool, but she would grab her neck first to give her time to prepare to hold her breath. After discussing a few times in advance, she would pretend to slip and let her up to breathe. The other party would cooperate on showing extreme pain.

She would follow Jiāng Zhiyu's arrangement to lock Meng Yu in the bathroom cubicle, but there was no need to be afraid. She had hidden the tools under the mop behind the trash can. When they left, Meng Yu could open the door and leave by herself. The next day in class, she had to put on her weak appearance as if she had been in the bathroom for a long time before being discovered and rescued by the security guard in the middle of the night.

They didn't dare to use communication devices like mobile phones, because Gu Qi knew that Jiāng Zhiyu could check every message of hers at any time. She lived a life without privacy

They didn't say a word in class.

They just passed by each other again and again, exchanged notes one after another, and cultivated this silent tacit understanding.

Through this cooperation, they have successfully kept it a secret from Jiāng Zhiyu.

That was until the senior year of high school.

Jāng Zhiyu had gradually lost interest in school bullying, which she thought of as a way to kill time. She planned to travel around the world after graduation and have her beautiful future.

But one weekend, someone posted anonymously in the forum to expose Jiāng Zhiyu as the leader behind many school bullying incidents in the school.

Although she almost never personally did it herself, those people all obeyed her.

The forum was really anonymous and the poster couldn't be found by any means.

Because they couldn't find that person, Jiāng Zhiyu went to Meng Yu's house for the first time to vent her emotions and vent her dissatisfaction on her even though the Jiāng Family had deleted at the shortest time possible.

Whether it was slaps or tearing clothes, Meng Yu could only endure it silently. No matter how many times she said that it wasn't her who posted the post, Jiāng Zhiyu didn't believe it.

And Meng Yu's parents were in the house. They knew that their daughter was being bullied in the living room, but they didn't dare to come out to dissuade them.

Because the rumor that the Gong Family and the Jiāng Family were going to marry was spreading like wildfire at the time. Meng Yu's father learned last month that he had worked hard for so many years and finally had the opportunity to be promoted to a manager.

After venting her anger, Jiāng Zhiyu returned home. Before leaving, she only said, "Find a way to apologize to me sincerely, otherwise your father's job will be lost. By the way, you have an elder brother, right? He is an excellent student in A University and his future is really bright. If something happens to him, his admission to graduate school will be cancelled."

Meng Yu just laid on the ground, listening to Jiāng Zhiyu's threatening words. However, her eyes looked at her father who was hiding behind the crack of the door and peeking and her mother who wanted to come out but was stopped by her father.

So that night.

She jumped from the high building of the school. This was all the 'sincerity' she could give to Jiāng Zhiyu and perhaps it was what her father wanted.

She couldn't hold on any longer. She knew she was powerless to resist. Perhaps this was her only ending.

It was a pity that she couldn't contact Gu Qi at that time and her call couldn't get through to her friend. At the end of her life, she had a lot to say but didn't know who to say it to.

She jumped off the building with a suicide note of nearly a thousand words accusing Jiāng Zhiyu. But she committed suicide, so the suicide note was suppressed by the Jiāng Family and her suicide was hastily covered up by saying that her study pressure was too great.

Gu Qi didn't know all this until a month later. At that time, Jiāng Zhiyu had been scolded by her family and sent abroad at once. Gu Qi was free.

She borrowed a book of ancient Chinese literature that Meng Yu liked to read most during her lifetime, which was obscure and difficult to understand, from the library. In it, Gu Qi found strange symbols and letters. After piecing them together, she got a website Meng Yu built by herself. It contained a video.

In it, Meng Yu slowly told the camera everything she had experienced in those three years and what had happened before that night.

In the end, she smiled bitterly, "I don't know when and who will see this video. I don't know what's the point of saying this, but I just want to find someone to talk about what happened over the years. I'm really tired. En... let's end it here."

She still had a faint smile on her face and tears in her eyes as she turned off the video recording.

It was a coincidence.

It was like the guidance of fate, letting Gu Qi know the truth.

The past scenes came to mind. Gu Qi looked at Ning Xiwei and asked, "You didn't come over and pull my hair directly. On top of that, you can get along with me for so long. It seems that you don't think those things on the Internet were true. So how much do you know?"

Ning Xiwei didn't answer her directly, but asked in the same way, "Does she know you were Gu Qi?"

Gu Qi nodded, "We talked once. She asked me what I wanted to do first after the college entrance examination. I said I wanted to change my name and take my grandmother's last name."

"Then everything match." Ning Xiwei handed the diary in her hand to Gu Qi, "I only know that you are a good person."

Gu Qi sat on the sofa and read the diary carefully.

There was a diary that Meng Yu had kept since her first year of high school, which records almost three years of her life.

From the beginning, it was very plain; what she ate and learned every day, to the first 'confession', to the first 'bullying', and the life in the following years.

She would record what happened every day, some people bullied her, and some people helped her.

It was just that there was no name in this diary, all were strange numbers as code.

Ning Xiwei took out another piece of paper and told Gu Qi: "Each string of numbers on it is..."

Gu Qi calmly replied: "They are all the strokes of each character of the name."

Ning Xiwei couldn't believe it: "How did you guess it so quickly?"

She couldn't really confirm it until now.

Because the evidence of Gu Qi's school bullying released online corresponded with those two things in the friend's diary.

It was the girl Number Ten Nine who had been helping her, a.k.a, Gu Qi, who was mentioned the most in the friend's diary.

They reached a 'cooperation' in private and acted out performances together to deceive the rumored 'Queen'.

"After all, these are my classmates." Gu Qi continued to flip through the diary and answered like this.

Because they were all her classmates, she had a certain understanding of each of their personalities and have some recollections of some matters. They could be matched with these numbers.

Ning Xiwei asked again: "Who is Queen?"

It was a name that looked very childish at first glance, but it was the only name mentioned in Meng Yu's diary that was replaced a number and contained full of fear.

[The Queen led her group to find me again. She didn't even have take in the room. She just looked at me and the dogs beside her jumped over to taunt me. It doesn't matter. I can pretend not to hear it.]

[The book was torn and the teacher furious. I knew it was Queen who did it, but I knew that I couldn't resist her.]

[Those who bullied me had no grudges against me. They weren't targeting me. It's just that no one dared to disobey her orders. She is like the queen of the school. As long as the queen needs it, countless people will do anything to please her like dogs]

[I hate this place, I want to graduate, I'm really scared]

...

Gu Qi didn't turn the page again, but looked at Ning Xiwei, "You know, she committed suicide. Even if the bullying was to be held accountable, only the part that caused the casualties will be dealt with."

After all, it was at school. Jiāng Zhiyu was afraid of leaving evidence. Except for one or two times when she went too far, in most cases, she wouldn't let Meng Yu really get hurt, but only tortured her spirit through constant intimidation.

Later, after being admitted to university and truly confirming her freedom, Gu Qi went to a lawyer to consult about related matter. She learned that because Meng Yu chose suicide, no one really needed to pay any price for her death.

Gu Qi was a selfish ordinary person.

After getting the answer, she had no way to fight for Meng Yu anymore.

She still had to live her own life, but occasionally felt a little sorry for Meng Yu.

"I know." Ning Xiwei pursed her lips tightly to control her tears, and stated firmly: "Even if I can't do anything, I want to tell everyone the truth."

Gu Qi continued to ask her: "If I say that the Queen has a good family background and even if you want to step forward and tell the truth, she will probably spend money to suppress it."

"I can... commit suicide."

Ning Xiwei's voice was unusually firm, saying: "The suicide of a popular idol will definitely be broadcast by countless media. She can't suppress it."

She was willing to exchange her life for an opportunity to tell the truth for her friend.

No matter who the 'Queen' was, she could use her death and public opinion to force her to admit and apologize.

Gu Qi stared at Ning Xiwei's face for a few seconds and advised: "Don't say such impulsive words. Once you're dead, you won't be able to see her apology. What's the point of an insincere apology? Even if it's sincere, it won't bring her back."

"Gu Qi!" Ning Xiwei frantically grabbed her arm, "I just want the truth! I just want to know who killed her! I know it's meaningless... but I just want to do it!"

Although it didn't have any practical meaning.

But that was the meaning of her life.

"I didn't say I didn't agree, but there is no need to pay the price with your death." Gu Qi continued to turn the pages of the diary in her hand, and added: "It's not to help you. I also need to clarify for myself. It's a win-win situation."

The next morning.

According to the time agreed with Jiāng Zhiyu, Gu Qi started a live broadcast to respond to the hot search school bullying.

Jāng Zhiyu even spent a lot of money and bought her a hot search preview for the apology in advance. Now all the melon-eating people would come to the live broadcast room to watch it as soon as possible.

Looking at participant list crowded with the most well-known marketing accounts in the entire circle and the number of people pouring into the live broadcast room, it wouldn't be exaggerated to say that if there were ten people online now, at least nine were watching her live broadcast. The remaining one was on the way.

Gu Qi uttered in a slightly hoarse voice: "I was in the same class as the girl who committed suicide due to school bullying in Capital No. 1 School. I want to respond to the speculation on the Internet here."

Raising her head, her eyes were as calm as ever, without any sadness: "But before I apologize, another person wanted to express her apology."

When Ning Xiwei appeared in the live broadcast room with red and swollen eyes, the barrage expressed shock through the rows of question marks.

[? ? ? ]

[What's the situation now? ]

[What does this have to do with Ning Xiwei? ]

Ning Xiwei took a deep breath, "I know everyone is wondering why I am here. It's because the victim of school bullying was my best friend, and I hope to have a chance to tell everyone what happened."

She stared at the screen with her voice trembling but full of hatred. The smile on her face became more and more forced, while she gritted through her teeth: "Jiāng Zhiyu, Eldest Miss Jiāng, or can I call you Queen?

Are you watching this live broadcast too?"
