Chapter 23

Mu Yuan didn't mind Jiang Lechuan.

It was just a hit. No flesh was going to fall off. The most troublesome thing would be if Jiang Lechuan got entangled with him.

However, Jiang Lechuan retreated once more.

He stared at Mu Yuan seriously, saying, "I just hit you, why aren't you hitting me back?"

Mu Yuan frowned slightly, not understanding what he was up to.

Jiang Lechuan put his hands on his shoulders and educated him with an elder's attitude, "Mu Yuan, you can't be so honest. You will be bullied outside if you are like this."

As he said that, he lowered his head again and beckoned, "Come on! Hit back!"

Mu Yuan: "?"

Obviously he made a mistake. Even if he didn't hold it against Jiang Lechuan, Jiang Lechuan would have new ideas and angles to go crazy.

Seeing that Mu Yuan didn't move for a long time, Jiang Lechuan abruptly became confident again. He guessed proudly: "Are you reluctant to hit your elder brother? Haha! I knew it..."

"Pa——"

Mu Yuan expressionlessly slapped Jiang Lechuan on the head.

Then Mu Yuan ignored him and walked past him.

Walking forward toward Gu Qi's direction.

Gu Qi's hand gently fell on Mu Yuan's shoulder, leading him a little in her direction, turned back to Jiang Lechuan, and said seriously: "Jiang Lechuan, he hit his elder brother, then you go and hit your elder brother. Hold this grudge against Wen Renjing."

Jiang Lechuan: "?"

Would this logic work?

*

Gu Qi's words seemed like a ‘prophecy’. When they left the school from the back door and saw Wen Renjing waiting at the door, the three of them fell into silence.

Wen Renjing stuck his head out of the car window and waved to them: "Hi!"

Gu Qi asked curiously: "Why are you here?"

Wen Renjing immediately showed a slightly heartbroken expression: "You excluded me and formed a small group. Of course I have to come to you to ask for an explanation."

It was indeed an award-winning actor-level performance. It wasn't as exaggerated as the last time when he pretended to be a green tea. It was just that his slightly twinkling  eyebrows and eyes revealed a slight helplessness, as if he had thousands of grievances that can only be expressed in this way.

Although Gu Qi could tell it was acting, it had to be said that it was very realistic and could fool most people-

Among them was Jiang Lechuan.

Jiang Lechuan pondered for two seconds. Although there was no rule that all activities of siblings must be together, they did leave behind Wen Renjing. It was understandable that he was heartbroken.

So he sincerely apologized: "I'm sorry, but Mu Yuan only had two parent quotas."

So couldn't bring Wen Renjing along.

Wen Renjing was stunned for a moment. His performance almost fell apart in front of Jiang Lechuan's sincerity.

Only Gu Qi received Wen Renjing's text message in advance, so she directly urged him: "Okay, just say it."

Wen Renjing nodded and showed a slightly forced smile: "No more jokes. I don't care, but you all know my mom's personality. She cares a lot about this matter. She asked me to invite you back for a meal next week. I have to meet a director next week and aren’t free, so I want to ask if you have time to go to my house for dinner today."

Everyone in the Jiang Family knew that since Wen Renjing's father passed away, his mother's mental state had become worse and worse. She always felt that everyone looked down on their family and even had a little paranoia. Even when giving gifts during festivals, everyone had to be careful and dare not make any bias, for fear that she would think too much at the slightest carelessness.

She had a bad heart and had to go to the hospital every few days. So when facing the requests of Wen Renjing's mother, everyone would try their best to meet them.

Gu Qi naturally had time. Jiang Lechuan answered without a second thought: “Anyway, we will be scolded if we go back now. So let's have a meal before going back."

Mu Yuan lightly nodded.

If he refused this request of Wen Renjing's mother, he already knew how his parents would educate him when he went back.

So the group set out on the road to Wen Renjing's house together.

Many years ago, after Wen Renjing's father passed away, his mother sold everything in the house, including her dowry, to repay the debt owed by her husband. Only this house in this old community was left.

Although the house was old, it was cleaned up very well and looked cozy.

Though Wen Renjing's mother had prepared a whole table of food for them, she had a stern face, not like inviting them to dinner, but as if she was going to interrogate them.

Gu Qi and Jiang Lechuan looked at each other. Both of them sighed at the same time.

Jiang Lechuan patted Mu Yuan on the shoulder and whispered, "Be patient, I'll take you to barbecue later."

Everyone knew what would happen next.

During the meal, Wen Renjing's mother kept educating them as siblings to mutually help each other with her elder identity. When she got emotional, she even stood up. It was Wen Renjing who helped her sit back down.

This scene happened frequently in their clan.

Not to mention the younger generation, even their parents could only smile forever when facing Wen Renjing's mother during festivals or occasionally being criticized. They dared not do anything to make her unhappy. Due to her bad heart, they were afraid that her emotional excitement would affect her health.

Seeing that the younger generations were so well-behaved, Wen Renjing's mother's mood soon improved. From the initial reprimand, she turned back to the caring attitude that an elder should have.

This was until Wen Renjing's mother began to teach Gu Qi: "It's not that I want to criticize you. Look at you. Your dad had an operation last month and you didn't go home to see him? How can a daughter be like this? Even if they didn't do well, they are still your parents. They gave you life. Under Heaven no parent is ever wrong. How can a daughter do this and let outsiders see a joke?"

Gu Qi unconsciously used more force on the chopsticks and wanted to say something to refute, but Jiang Lechuan smiled and smoothed things over for her: "My dad only stayed in the hospital for two days. My sister didn't have time to adjust her work schedule before he was discharged. There was nothing that could be done, right?"

As he said this, he patted Gu Qi under the table and winked at her.

Gu Qi took a deep breath.

In this family, even Jiang Lechuan knew that it was meaningless to argue with his aunt. If she angered her to the point of having a heart attack, she would become an indirect murderer. So Gu Qi could only force a smile again: "Eldest Aunt is right."

After the meal, Wen Renjing sent them out and looked at Gu Qi to apologize on behalf of his mother: "Don't take what my mom said to heart."

"I know. Her health is important." Gu Qi had no expression. After changing shoes, she went downstairs with Jiang Lechuan and Mu Yuan.

Wen Renjing looked at his mother with some disapproval: "Mom, why do you always say these things? She doesn't want to go back in the first place. The more you say, the more she will resist."

His mother suddenly frowned and said nothing. She just sat in front of his father's portrait and stared blankly.

This scene was common at home. Wen Renjing didn't care anymore and started to clean up the dishes on the table and put them in the kitchen to wash.

At this moment, Mother kept reaching out to gently touch the portrait of Father, muttering: "Don't worry. They killed you. Their family can’t forget about living peacefully..."

"Crack——"

The dishes in Wen Renjing's hands fell to the ground. He didn't bother to pick them up. He walked to his mother in two steps and asked: "Mom, what did you just say? Who killed... who can forget about living peacefully?"

Mother seemed to be abruptly awakened from a nightmare. Being so close to Wen Renjing, she was startled, holding her heart and asked: "Why did you suddenly approach? What forget living peacefully? Why do you suddenly say such things? It's a sin."

She seemed to have no memory of what had just happened. Seeing that only she and her son were left at home, she showed annoyance: "Did Xiaoqi leave? I didn't get them to take the snacks I made. Forget it, remember to bring it to them tomorrow."

Then Mother got up and went to clean up the broken plates on the ground, reminding: "How can you be so clumsy? To even break a plate? Be more careful in the future."

Wen Renjing was stunned for a few seconds.

He quickly returned to his room, flipped through the contacts, and found a number he hadn't contacted for a long time, and dialed it.

"Hello, I'm Wen Renjing. Do you remember my mother who had psychological counseling with you a few years ago?"

"Yes, I want to take her for some detailed examinations. The sooner the better. Thank you."

Jiāng Family, after dinner.

Seeing that Gu Qi and Jiang Lechuan accompanied Mu Yuan to participate in the school sports meeting, the official blog of Capital No. 1 School naturally took advantage of this heat and uploaded a lot of photos taken when they participated in the event today. They were very proud of them.

After seeing this trend, Jiāng Fengzhi had prepared for his younger sister’s usual hysteria when it came to slightest matters related to Gu Qi. Unforeseen, her emotions seemed to be particularly calm this time.

Jiāng Fengzhi looked at her with some surprise, took a sip of the tea at hand, and asked: "Improved?"

Jiāng Zhiyu was holding a puppy she had just raised in her arms. The white Samoyed was still in its infancy, wagging its tail in her arms.

She lowered her head and rubbed the puppy in her arms. She shot back out of the blue: "It's obviously Elder Brother who should be angry, right? Her college entrance examination results were brilliant, which proves that she didn't do well in the three years of high school because she didn't want to be in the same class with us."

Seeing Jiāng Fengzhi's face quickly turned cold, Jiāng Zhiyu laughed out loud. Her eyes curved: "What's wrong, Elder Brother? I actually hit bullseye."

"Who taught you this?" Jiāng Fengzhi pushed his glasses and asked: "Gong Xuanan?"

"Yes, he told me that if I say this to you, you will definitely be angry." Jiāng Zhiyu openly admitted it as she propped her cheek with one hand and stroked the puppy's back with the other hand.

"Stay away from Gong Xuanan." Jiāng Fengzhi paused for a few seconds before adding, "Don't get into the muddy water of the Gong Family."

"Of course I know he is useless." Jiāng Zhiyu yawned lazily and said, "So this time, I just want to use him and get him to listen to my arrangements."

Last time she wanted to hand it over to Gong Xuanan, but the other party did nothing. It went without saying that this time she had to hold the control in her own hands and carefully plan a big show.

Jiāng Fengzhi stared at his younger sister and suddenly had the urge to laugh.

With her IQ, she wanted to use others. What’s more, what Gong Xuanan, who foil things more than succeed, could do to help her.

The last bit of emotion left made him want to remind Jiāng Zhiyu out of kindness, but if she was so stubborn then it got nothing to do with him.

Jiāng Fengzhi stopped trying to persuade her and just asked, "What do you want to do this time?"

Jāng Zhiyu was going to carry the puppy upstairs. When she passed by Jiāng Fengzhi, she drawled out, "It's nothing. Just found those dogs from back then and got them to come out to act. Elder Brother, you don’t need to stick your nose in."

Jāng Zhiyu's figure quickly disappeared at the stairs.

Jiāng Fengzhi didn't ask any more questions, but just sent a message to the housekeeper, asking him to check Jiāng Zhiyu's communication records this week and who she met.

The answer was clear and simple, so simple that he didn't even need to think too much.

It was a stupid way.

But for Jiāng Fengzhi, he had no reason to stop it, because whether Jiāng Zhiyu succeeded or not, it wasn't bad news for him.

The time for the recording of the new episode of ‘Troublesome Siblings’ came in a blink of an eye.

Once again, everyone gathered in the villa first. The director team had all the guests go to different places on the grounds to complete the individual task first.

But in fact.

Only Ning Xiwei was actually doing the task. The others pretended to go out before returning to the villa.

Because the director team gave them a mysterious task, which was to celebrate Ning Xiwei's birthday together.

The scene fell into a brief silence.

Because to be honest --

They weren't familiar with each other at all. No one present had a good relationship with Ning Xiwei.

[Jiang Lechuan's face is full of disgust. It’s simply flashing: Are we really going to do this kind of fake warmth?]
